Tyenhia Ryhia

"In Tyenhia's travels, I've learned that the thing separating us from beasts and animals isn't the ability to love but the ability to hate. The hunter doesn't hate his prey in fact he loves it for its ability to be eaten. We have to be wary that we don't let those around us influence our perception of others unfairly. Be like Tyenhia who doesn't need the anger of others when she can hate people all on her own."

Appearance

Tyenhia is a tall grey-skinned Komodo with a lean muscular build that contrasts with her dainty feminine features and posture. She has curly black hair and red highlights that fall on her shoulders and the back of her neck and she wears golden pyramidical earrings and an expensive riviere made of crystals. Red eyes and a yellow sclera give Tyenhia's eyes a sickly appearance which draws attention to the scar dragging across her cheeks which is normally covered by a thin veil or mask. Frequently seen when she goes out or is in the market is a red triangle painted on Tyhenia's forehead in conjunction with other face paint and makeup.

Shrouding her face in darkness Tyenhia wears a black hood and either a purple or red robe over her body. Protruding from the sides of her head Tyenhia has two curved brown horns about seven inches long and an ash-colored tail that grows darker from its base to its end. Tyenhia has been noted for her fearsome appearance particularly her cold demeanor, staggering height, brawny build, and the endless flow of poison salivating from her mouth despite her persistent attempts to wipe it away.

Skills and Abilities

Martial Training
Tyenhia is skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and melee combat involving weapons. She can competently use a handful of swords, daggers, and spears though her expertise lies mostly in her use of steel chains that she keeps tucked inside her robe. She uses the chains to both slice up and bind targets to which she can then deal with them as she pleases and it should be remarked that her reaction speed is considerably high.
Alchemical Expertise
Tyenhia is experienced in both the use and creation of potions and other chemicals. She has a broad knowledge of herbs and special flora and her skill in utilizing them has earned her a decent living. This expertise also translates directly into the use of medicinal enzymes and health-boosting effects.
Stealth and Infiltration
Tyenhia's large size and stature mean nothing to her and many unwary men have met their maker at the tip of her blade and burn of her poison. Moving through rooms undetected, slipping in and out of the shadows, and otherwise finding her way into places she shouldn't be is no large task for Tyenhia which is a desirable trait all on its own.
Assassination
In situations where open killing would be unfavorable Tyenhia is prepared to put all her skills together in order to covertly eliminate whatever target stands in her path. Because of her knowledge of the body and its mechanics, many black market and thieves guild come to Tyenhia for poisons however she routinely refuses them.

Strengths

I can be very persuasive if needed
Tyenhia understands psychology and people in general which gives her an edge in all things persuasion. Whether it's convincing a merchant to mark down his unfair prices or talking her way out of a holdup many find that poison isn't the only thing dripping from Tyenhia's lips.
The only one fooled by your deception is you for thinking it would have worked
Tyenhia sees through deception very easily and almost always knows when she is being deceived or otherwise lied to. Her improved senses help her in this regard and in her own words Tyenhia can "smell a lie forming in the lungs before it's breathed to life."
CHOMP
Thanks to a pair of glands inside of her throat poison pools inside Tyenhia's mouth semi-at will which allows her to bite into enemies and poison them or secrete the substance onto a weapon or drink if she's feeling extra sinister
Yeah, I lift surprised?
Tyenhia is in good physical condition and thanks to her heritage is superior in strength to humans and most creatures like them. She has excellent stamina and can climb surfaces very easily with the aid of her tail.
If you can't scrap you can't be a successful merchant I say!
Tyenhia while certainly not battle-hungry is no coward and if sufficiently pushed will engage in battle to which her enemy should be wary. Because of her unusual fighting style, high intelligence, and erratic movements, Tyenhia is an opponent to be taken seriously and not one that can be countered without difficulty.

Weaknesses

My Voice is exquisite is it not?
Tyenhia ADORES the sound of her own voice and while it is nice the woman talks in excess and if not for the poison flooding her mouth nonstop the Komodo might actually talk forever. This can cause irritation in people and has actually led to Tyenhia giving away more than she should
Honor-Bound
Tyenhia has an iron-clad honor code and she values law and order very high in society. The woman refuses to even toe the line of her convictions and will follow what is right and just even to her own detriment at times.
Hollow Bone Disease
Tyenhia had an insufficient diet and mineral intake when she was young and as a result, developed a very weak bone structure which lowers her durability by a huge amount. During her life, Tyenhia has fractured many a bone and to this day there are abnormalities in her skeleton that weaken her ability to move quickly and nimbly. If one were to pay attention you could see the strain with which her body moves.
Scale Slag
Tyenhia's scales never hardened leaving her skin exposed and highly sensitive to touch and sun exposure. As a result, Tyenhia despises hot summer days which is why she wears a hood and veil and this is only multiplied by her hypersensitivity to any sort of touch. Even a simple handshake causes her paltry discomfort. An outlet of humiliation from both herself and other Komodi her scaleless skin is a feature of herself that Tyenhia wrestles with to this day.
Frond's Syndrome: Stage 2
A disease passed down through her bloodline, Tyenhia's poison glands never fully developed giving her no control over the poison that builds unchecked in her mouth. Said poison constantly salivates down her mouth and is a source of shame for the woman as she carries a handkerchief to wipe away the toxins that drip from her maw.

Personality

Tyenhia is a grounded and conservative person, she clings to traditional values and rites more than individuality and free choice and feels that laws and customs must continue to be revered simply because they are customs. People with no respect for the beliefs, laws, and traditions of others find themselves as the target of her ire. Tyenhia and a thief or a liar have nothing they can agree on and any interaction they might have will usually be a hostile one. Tyenhia admires the laws and practices of all the lands she travels to and is incredibly respectful of all she meets in spite of the regular undeserved disdain she is given simply because of her species.

Tyenhia loves to talk with just about anyone who is able to tolerate her accent that sounds like a bit of everywhere and her constant salivating. She is able to speak a vast array of languages but is most proficient in the trade tongue which she mingles in with her own quirks of speech and words from the native Komodi tongue. Tyenhia speaks with her body in a lot of ways with her tail almost like a mirror into what she is feeling at that moment. She is very expressive in both face and body and shows the inability to hide what she is feeling no matter how hard she might want or need to. While not adverse to her native upbringings Tyenhia tries to shake the habit of referring to herself in the third person, a trait she's yet to abolish.

One of the few things Tyenhia won't talk about is her abnormal lack of scales and her incapability to control the poisonous glands in her throat and the shame she feels for having these conditions. Komodi are known for their scaly skin and ability to breathe gouts of flame so not having either of these traits makes Tyenhia feel weak around others and especially amongst her people who refer to her as a Frond because of her condition. Tyenhia has spent her life feeling inadequate and unwanted so when someone takes even a small jab at her pride she can respond explosively, another vice she hopes to shake.

Biography & Lore

When Tyenhia was a child her family like most Komodi weren't wanted inside or even near civilized society so the trio was forced to smuggle their way into the city. All they desired was a better life free from the disease and poverty that so commonly followed their species and for this desire, Tyenhia's parents were publicly hung in the middle of Oban a spectacle the child was made to watch before she was sold on the black market as a common servant. The slave to a Lord who had a fascination with the Komodo species and kept many of them as captives and was so obese his fat swallowed any seat he sat in Tyenhia was the regular subject of his verbal and physical abuse which he claimed was still too tame for a monster like her.

The Lord planned to keep Tyenhia and the others around to breed new servants for him to which Tyenhia simply wouldn't abide. In her short life, she'd been brutalized simply because of her race, and the anger boiled over in her and the other slaves which led to them hatching a plan to kill the lord. In her infrequent free time, Tyenhia would sneak into libraries and steal tomes to read up on the discipline of alchemy and all its fatal applications. Eventually, the time came to kill the lord by poisoning the food that he so gleefully stuffed himself with making it seem as though the man's unhealthy habits had simply caught up with him.

With the death of their master, the Komodi were forced to scatter as their deaths or reselling into slavery became imminent. With a target on their backs, the Komodi formed a traveling caravan, a new tribe of people desperately in pursuit of their people's culture and those who would try to steal it. The caravan's journey was a perilous one and over the course of their voyage, Tyenhia acquired skill in battle through many skirmishes fought to protect her tribe. The woman learned her strengths and weaknesses and worked around them eventually leading to her use of chains to supplement her shortcomings.

Eventually, Tyenhia decided to branch off on her own in pursuit of her studies in alchemy and her dreams as a merchant. Now she travels Arethil a lone wanderer with a scarred past and a very uncertain future. She's not an optimist, that emotion was stolen from her when she was a child but perhaps in the odyssey before her Tyenhia might learn to have faith in the good of others again.

"Asking Tyenhia to have sympathy for a thief is like asking me to have disdain for honor. This one thinks she stopped caring about the how's and why's when she stopped caring about whether or not enemies had wives and children waiting for them at home. Good is good and bad is bad this one doesn't need or want to know anything else about it except how to differentiate the two."
