Originally a minor warlord of the Naghoon, or Steppe Orcs, Tarnakh is a respected warrior and ruthless commander who has risen to lead his people as Khagan, the Khan of Khans of the Naghoon. A veteran rider and adept leader, he knows that the road to greatness and expansion is built upon not just the bones of your foes, but also upon the alliances of friends and neighbors.

Appearance

Often clad in armor or furs, Tarnakh embodies the visage of a tribal orc leader. His weathered, red skin bears many scars from battle and his amber eyes glow with a cunning rarely seen in orcs or men the world over. In battle, he wears traditional, finely crafted Naghoon armor atop a trusted Naghoon horse, its manes braided with colorful strips of banners taken from defeated clans.

Skills and Abilities

Tarnakh is a renowned archer and skilled swordsman which, when coupled with his prodigious skill as a horseman, marked him as a Naghoon Khan from a young age. However, it is his tactical and analytical mind with a ruthless streak a mile wide that shall pave the way to his greatness, or his downfall.

Personality

Gruff, coarse, and generally barbaric, Tarnakh tends to appear as a common orc warlord. While this is a part of his true personality, he also uses such displays as a facade, allowing his Steppe heritage to mask his own intelligence. Among his people and allies he is a strict, but fair ruler with a mind for progressive politics, even banning the enslavement of orcs among his people. To his enemies, however, he is a cruel scourge that leaves little in his wake, bring only fire and death in his hands as hooves thunder the ground.

Biography & Lore

Little is known of Tarnakh before his rise to Khagan, primarily because the Naghoon keep only verbal records which are rarely shared outside the Steppe clans. What is known, or often inferred from tidbits of information, is that Tarnakh rose to his rank not by birth, but by a mix of duels won, clans conquered, political marriages, and several alliances made with fellow Naghoon clans.

His rise to Khan of Khans, however, is documented. He faced his rival, Ulgan, on the steppes in open warfare after years of campaigning. Initially reluctant to enter conflict with who he saw as the rightful heir of the throne, Ulgan's father dying years before as the previous Khan of Khans, the aggressive royal heir had viewed Tarnakh as a threat to his own power base and launched raid after raid to provoke Tarnakh's retaliation. With Ulgan's army defeated and shattered on the steppes with the help of the Dominion and the Dark Elves, Tarnakh took upon himself the mantle of Khagan and resolved himself to lead his people to whatever greatness the gods had waiting for them.
