Snag Benneret

A professional pot stirrer, Snag relishes in his namesake. He loves interfering whenever and wherever he can trip up, ensnare, complicate, or just plain annoy. He claims to serve some higher master, though it's hard to know how much of what he ever says is fact or fabrication. His favorite targets are Dreadlords and those in the Anirian Guard for some inscrutable reason, with other targets of his life threatening pranks seemingly relegated to his "free time".

Appearance

Snag sports a yellowing and jagged grin, although it's hard to spot past his long facial hair. It's obvious by the grey of his hair that he's older, but its hard to say how old exactly. He sports a hood that always obscures the upper half of his face, making his identity indiscernible. Not to mean he's not identifiable. The shape of his hood is distinct, his patchy colorful clothing is bright, and he clearly wears a longsword at the hip with his zweihander slung over his shoulder when not in use.

The old man's voice is gravely and strained, with every word seeming to have to be forced out of him. He seems to love to hear himself talk either way, and speaks in an particularly archaic manner. His laugh is no better sounding, and it often turns into a coughing fit.

Skills and Abilities

Dexterity
Snag is quite nimble for an old man, being capable of acrobatics that should be impossible for someone his age. Especially with that huge sword on his back.
Foresight
While not being able to actually see in the future, Snag is quite the planner. His traps and snares are intricate, and he seems to take many angles into account. If there's an easy way out of whatever he's plotting, it's probably a trap.
Luck Thief
The reason for so many rumors about Snag, the separation between him being unusual and him being an enigma, his ability to magically siphon luck from others. The more he takes, the more likely something unfortunate happens to his target, and the more likely things will fall into favor for him. Skill always beats luck though, and Snag's multi decade luck storage can't do everything.

When it comes to combat, his skill is akin to most senior dreadlord initiates, along with his strange knowledge of magic. It seems someone has been training him.

Personality

Snag Benneret loves toying with people, and always seems confident that things will work out for him. They have for decades now, why would it stop now? It's because of this that he acts so much like a youth while wearing the veneer of elderly wisdom. Lack of consequences has left him in an adolescent stage in life, and he simply does whatever he likes. One could say he has an unnatural zest for life.

Loving mischief, Snag revels in everything from inconveniencing people to trapping them like rats and watching them succumb to their fates. He is schadenfreude and Id incarnate, and seems to enjoy little else than to lay his traps. Oftentimes he seems more faerie than human, but crueler than both. Another similar trait between the two is the hatred for cheating of any kind. It's concerning that this master of his has seemingly managed to focus these energies towards a specific end, whatever it may be.

Biography & Lore

Little is known about Snag, if that's even his real name. Despite his best efforts to stay mysterious, rumors spread about him from his little side escapades, including deaths and disappearances. He often makes reference to his Master, but his history seems to precede said master, meaning its only recently that he has become a servant of someone else's dream.

Seeing a "Hooded Man with a Yellow Grin" is said to be a horrible omen, and people tell stories of being plagued with misfortune anywhere from days to years after an encounter with him. They're the lucky ones.

Snag has been spotted all over Arethil, and like many things about him, it's unknown how he gets around so quickly. (Simple portal stones combined with his natural ability and affinity foe horse thievery.) Lately a majority of sightings have been in Eastern Cortos and the Northwest of the Falwood.
