Simon Santos do Nascimento once carried the weight of expectations on his shoulders. The magically-blessed middle child of a well-off mercantile family, he was groomed to one day inherit the business and wealth that came with it when he came of age. However, not all things work out in life. Three years into his enrollment at the College of Elbion, Simon was expelled for many offenses. The most heinous of them were extortion, academic dishonesty, and several counts of dueling on and off school grounds. His professors never failed to mention the young Cortosi man's wasted potential when speaking about him.

Since his expulsion, Simon has spent years gambling his way into deeper and deeper debt.

Young and dashing and befitting a proper Cortosi man, Simon painstakingly minds his appearance. In the end, he achieves a ruggedly handsome fresh-out-of-bed look. Prefers earthy scents and often smells of sage and juniper.

A smart brawler, if not a bit rough around the edges. Boasts some skills with a sword thanks to lessons as a child from his family's instructor, but just enough to defend himself. Prefers a knife, and knows a trick or two with one.

Is remarkably dextrous, and to aid him in high-stakes card games and everyday swindling, has practiced quite a bit with sleight of hand tricks and misdirection. Keeps a small deck of magic cards on his person, for reasons.

Simon showed a great deal of knowledge in enchanting during his time at the college, and with the resources granted to him as a student, he crafted numerous wands. After much trial and error, he reached a workable design and always keeps a small array of custom wands close by, each providing a unique function.

Prideful, bold, cunning, and confident, Simon's Cortosi roots are evident. He is a smooth talker with a dry wit, but more often than not, opts for silence. He is carefree and easygoing at the best of times, rude and foul-mouthed at the worst.

Loves a drink, especially when it's free.

He is a man capable of showing great kindness to those he cares for but does not extend that kindness to strangers. That is, not without incentive.
