The Mark 1
The first iteration of this weapon was crafted by Alistair and Ralene with only the most necessary materials that they could get their hands on. For this reason, the hilt looks rather simple and unassuming to many that see it. Of course, this basic design limits the hilt's durability, as it must be carefully maintained.

The arcane blade that the weapon creates reaches out to the standard length of an average arming sword, although thinner. The color of the blade varies depending on the wielder's magical signature, but Alistair's blade is blue.

The idea of the runesaber was imagined several years before its actual creation. Alistair had always focused on weaving his magical specialty with his swordsmanship, and the runesaber is the culmination of that idea.

The blade was finally crafted when Alistair was confident enough in the idea to come to Ralene Banick. Her specialty in metalwork and forging was necessary to determine the proper materials for the weapon. After a few trips and negotiations, the materials were gathered and the two created the weapon.

The blade is still only in the prototype stage as Alistair still has plans on advancing and improving the design.
