Appearance

Myrra Zaeneir is a relatively average dark elf. As is typical for most elves her skin is free of any splotching or blemishes that are common among the other races. To another elf she would appear to be average in appearance, not unattractive but surely nothing to write home about. Humans on the other hand tend to find her quite stunning.

She has red eyes which are rather common amongst the Sharathi and snowy white hair which she prefers to keep long.

Due to the nature of her work she generally wears light leather or cloth and often uses a hooded cloak to help conceal her identity or blend into a crowd.

Skills and Abilities

Diplomacy - The pen is mightier than the sword! If possible she tries to avoid violence and has gotten good at talking her way out of unpleasant situations. Although, if the coin is right she’s open to assassination jobs.

Daggers and Knives - These are Myrra’s preferred weapons if she isn’t using magic. Whether used for throwing, stabbing, or slashing.

Delumens - She can reduce the level of light around her helping her to sneak in illuminated areas. When engaging in this magic photons of light die out around her. This ability, when used too long, causes a sense of dread and depression to wash over Myrra along with any other sentient beings standing too close to her.

Hydromancy - Myrra can control water to a startling degree. She can freeze the water in the air molecules around her to create shards of ice which can be launched at foes. She can envelop someone in a torrent of water in an attempt to drown them. She can superheat water to burn an adversary or create steam in an attempt to temporarily blind them. She can even freeze flesh if touching it.

Depending on the level of the hydromancy at work she will become extremely fatigued, sometimes to the point of fainting. In addition, she becomes dehydrated as she engages in these abilities requiring her to drink large amounts of water to avoid headaches or more severe health risks.

Personality

Pragmatic and practical, Myrra can sometimes rub thin-skinned folk the wrong way. She is cunning, clever, and sometimes a bit of a know it all. However she is not above acting dumb if the situation calls for it.

Biography & Lore

Early Life

Myrra was born in Elbion and before the girl could stand up her parents dropped her off at some orphanage before going to who-knows-where to do who-cares. She always just assumed they were addicts or too selfish to share their lives with her. And as it turns out, even in a trading hub melting pot like Elbion not many folks are keen on adopting the black skinned pointy eared girl with red eyes. Her childhood wasn’t too interesting with her time pretty evenly split between helping the orphanage workers with menial tasks so she’d have a place to sleep and sneaking out at night to run with whichever hoodlum gang would include her that week.

Everything changed when she met Bemlys at the age of fifteen. He was her first love, a bad boy human with tan skin and a deep scar instead of a right eye. Bemlys had told her he lost his eye in a pub fight but she was pretty sure it was a punishment for some crime he didn’t want to admit to. After a few weeks of seeing each other Myrra was head over heels about this guy. No one had ever paid the poor dark elf much attention so someone showing her affection was a pretty big deal. As a result it was easy for her love interest to convince her to join him and a few of his buddies as a smuggler on a frigate they had just recently found themselves in possession of.

For a few years the smugglers' life was a good thing for the teenaged Sharathi. Life on the high seas was liberating compared to her life barely scrounging by in Elbion. The crew respected her moxie, she aided the captain in multiple ‘negotiations,’ and she was still very much in love with Bemlys. Then someone on the ship got the bright idea that they oughta give piracy a try.

It was the second ship they tried to rob that ruined everything. A small caravel with a crew of three. A captain, some knight, and this old crusty wizard. The captain knew they had no chance at resisting and gave in immediately. The knight kept insisting this would result in grave consequences from the kingdom of some state no one cared about. And the old mage… he was the one they should’ve paid mind to. He kept going on about, “you don’t know what you’re doing, I’m trying to help you,” but Myrra and her pirate allies just laughed. It was as Myrra grabbed the artifact that the mage was trying to keep them away from that it happened.

Dazzling light followed by the greatest sense of gloom the dark skinned elf had ever felt. The clouds darkened and the waves came alive around both ships. Myrra was suspended in air as the artifact began to meld into her flesh. Once it was halfway inside her arm it shattered and whatever hadn’t melded with her body was flung into the sky. The elderly mage began to scream, instructing everyone that Myrra had to be killed. At first the pirates were having none of this. But the the waves became more and more intense.

It was Bemlys who first yelled back at his crew to kill Myrra. The horror and rage she felt at his betrayal is likely what caused their deaths. All Myrra can recall was a wall of ocean water crashing both ships together and then waking up on the shore, not certain how she got there.

Since that day Myrra has spent the last ten years or so making a name for herself as a thief, muscle, or assassin. Whatever pays the bills. In her free time she consults with whoever the local holy man or mage is in an attempt to learn more about the magic bestowed on her or what that artifact even was. She’s had a few romantic flings since her first love but Bemlys taught her a valuable lesson. No one was ever going to care about her more than they cared about themselves.

The Underrealm

Myrra spent years working for various gangs and cartels in The Shallows of Alliria until one day she met the sorceress Kassa Lia and the elder dark elf Nasir.

It was through these two acquaintances that she eventually traversed the depths of the Underrealm, the ancestral home of her people. With Nasir’s knowledge she learned that her red eyes marked her as royalty. The trio managed to track down the drowish priest who had condemned Myrra to exile from her birthright and with the help of both Kassa Lia and Nasir she slayed her banisher.

In the chaos and aftermath of the murder of a priest she met Ysala. A dark elf noble who attempted to teach her the ways of nobility in the Underrealm. Myrra found it impossible to adjust to such a life and eventually gave up the ways of the drow to return to an Arethil dominated by humans, elves, and all manner of non-dark elf creatures.
