Appearance

Matthias is not a large or imposing man, his frame is thin and wiry with little muscle mass. His skin is pale, his hair short and a bit wild. He wears glasses to help him see things afar and he dresses in functional yet presentable clothing.
In spite of his initial impression he's very lithe and fit, what he lacks in strength he makes up for with agility.

He keeps himself clean and well groomed whenever he can. He seems very much suited for book work, his hands are un-calloused and his fingers are long and aristocratic, better suited for use of a pen than a sword.

Skills and Abilities

Prodigious Mind: He is highly intelligent, he's very knowledgeable about many realms of science as well as magical and alchemical studies. He has an incredible memory and a vivid imagination that helps him to think outside the box.

Wizard Spellcasting: He is skilled in spellcraft and arcane lore, years ahead of his peers in terms of magical advancement, able to craft spells on the spot and using secret lore to enhance his skills and hone his magical power.
Human: He has absolutely no inherent magic about him, no mystical bloodline or gift. His magic is entirely reliant on his Arcane Focus, if he loses that he cannot access his magic.

Nearsighted: He uses glasses to make up for his difficulty seeing at a distance. He can focus on things within reach, but beyond that he needs glasses to make out clearly.

Personality

In spite of his weaker build he holds himself with a cool confidence and bearing even in the face of imposing situations. He's a studious and aristocratic person, holding himself to a higher standard in order to achieve his goals.

He's almost insufferably polite, a young man skilled in the intricacies of political and nobility games, his smile spreads like butter and sooths savage emotions. He isn't perfect, however, hit too close to home and he could definitely hold a grudge.

He's ultimately cunning and manipulative, using his natural charisma to influence those around him to do as he wants. He's an intelligent plotter, a cold planner and a cruel strategist.

Biography & Lore

Matthias Is a noble born son of a prestigious family in Elbion. As soon as he showed an aptitude for magic his family sent him to the Magic College with a hefty donation to secure his education. It quickly became apparent that he had no natural affinity for magic and that he possessed no inherent gift or bloodline that possessed magic within him.
In spite of these facts he persevered, studying magic and finding ways to use it in spite of his notable disadvantage.

The mages and sorcerers that were born with magic bullied him incessantly, saying he had no place in the college because he couldn't use magic. Even then he was a weak and wirey kid, he had no way to stand up to these people on his own... So he hired some protection. One of the top students in his class, a prodigy from a poor family, a diamond in the rough, was struggling to continue to pay college dues. Matthias payed off the debt and in exchange had a powerful ally that helped him to thrive in school.
Before long his studies had paid off and he discovered a way to use an arcane focus as a way to use magic even though he had no magic himself.

He excelled from then on, his spellcraft grew exponentially and he learned many things now with the ability to put into practice many things that he learned.

Equipment

Arcane Focus:
An arcane focus is an item that magic users use to focus and cast spells. It contains a well of magic captured from the crossing of at least two magical lay lines. The magic stored within it is relative to the strength of the caster and regenerates after a day of rest.

Spellbook:
This is the book where he records and takes notes on all of the spells he knows and is learning. If the wizard finds a spell scroll, or another wizard's spellbook, he can copy any number of spells into his book. As personal items of a spellcaster, his spellbook contain copious amounts of non-magical writings that provide context for his beliefs, research, and practices.
