Masika (character)
“Believe that love is forever and forever you’ll be in love.”
Masika’s name means born during rain. A old man took her in gave it to her because she was found alone in a storm, crying louder than the winds and thunder that ravaged the small village she would later grow up in. The old man, Abasi, treated her like she was his own kin. Growing up, her childhood and teen years were filled with happiness, as well as duty as Abasi desperately wanted Masika to join the hidden hands. It wasn’t until he was on his death bed that he told her of his guilt and shame of sacrificing his family to achieve his dreams but then being too much of a coward to complete them— therefore losing both his family and his life-long dream. Despite not being blood related, he told her that she was his daughter and he was proud of the who she was becoming. When Abasi died, Masika felt a sense of loss. She placed the pain of losing her father deep inside her, never fully accepting his loss and but instead focusing on placing all her ambitions into becoming a emerald hand. After all, if she’s Abasi’s daughter, she will become an emerald hand, just as he always wanted her to be.
Appearance
Masika is strong, and really, it’s something she’s quite bashful about. Having honed her muscles and focusing on training with all the determination and diligence she could muster, Masika is far from the ideal soft hourglass figure that she dreams of having. Strong sinews can be seen with every move she makes, her arms and legs easily showcasing the power and stamina that is tightly knitted underneath her skin. Has less fat on her than the average woman especially due to her having always been lean.
One thing Masika is rather proud of is her back— lots of ladies (actually, it’s only been women) have complemented her when she has lifted something heavy or pulled something down, only to see the contours of her back and shoulders in action.
Her face is quite pretty, very delicate features with large brown doe-eyes that have a few gold splinters in them when the sun hits it just right. Constantly smiling, or looking like she is about to smile: her lips forever in an upward tilt. Hair is at a medium length although due to it being quite wavy her dark hair seems shorter than it really is. Her face completely contradicts her overall physique, especially with the endearing kind expression she wears.
Masika has also decorated her body with a series of tattoos— most are found on her back, shoulders, biceps, chest, torso, hips, thighs, with really only her face, forearms, calves and feet carrying no tattoos. The tattoos are more minimalist in design and tell stories while often depicting animals, the nine parts of the soul, and symbols that represent strength, healing, familial bonds, gratitude, peace, harmony and balance. Specifically, gratitude, peace, harmony and balance are the most common of her plethora of tattoos.
Often will be seen in armor with a set of javelins strapped to her back, often carries a mace-axe or a large axe depending on the situation. When not in armor prefers to wear garments more akin to loose, revealing dresses and sandals.

Skills and Abilities
Masika has always been noted to possess fantastic strength and speed, even when she was younger and didn’t much much muscle on her. When she was ten she playfully arm wrestled with a soldier and proceeded to win each and every time they played. More recently, Masika carried a teenage boy who had broken his leg from one side of Ragash to the other in under five minutes without breaking a sweat.
Masika can ride on horses, camels and other beasts.
Animals naturally come to Masika, even the most feral alley cat will quickly warm up to her. Masika has admitted that even as a child she felt a closer bond to animals than humans. Because of this, while out traveling, wild beasts will often leave her alone and she is quick to understand when an animal is distressed. Back at home, Masika feeds all the strays in her city as much as she can and has a pet parrot, named Femi, who is fiercely protective of her and is found of saying tongue twisters.
Masika has a green thumb, although that is thanks to Abasi.
A fantastic swimmer, can hold her breath under water for almost two minutes. Great at rowing a boat as well— gotta keep those arms lean and mean!
Masika can read a little, but not very much.
Strong and agile like a tiger, a lot of her strikes come from a focusing of destabilizing her opponent first with the next move meant to finish them. Think of Masika focusing more on high-powered, stable strikes, forward stance, and a clear focus on striking a specific part of the body compared to multiple high-speed strikes that don’t have much power individually, sideways stance and striking a general area of the body.
Masika’s true greatness comes from her natural aptitude towards fighting and weaponry. Her go-to tend to be javelins, large axes, or her beloved mace-axe. Despite her kind and gentle disposition she is incredibly ferocious in battle and many have made jokes that it’s just her releasing her pent up frustrations. Despite being a kinetic learner, she is quite quick to understand things however this means to grow stronger she needs a lot of experience— which she is unfortunately lacking.

Personality
Masika is outwardly a cheerful yet awkward individual as she can be rather dense at times. There’s a sort of naivety about her that hasn’t been rubbed off yet, and this often has her taking some jokes too seriously or laughing at the wrong time. Sarcasm often goes over her head and Masika has never been shy about hiding her emotions.
She’s a sensitive creature, and often finds herself wishing she can help others and when hearing sad news will often cry for whoever is grieving. She has a good heart and good intentions, but often it gets her in predicaments where she is taken advantage of as she tries to only see the best of people in The Empire. (Screw those Anirians though.)
Often tries to help people who don’t want her help much to both parties chagrin. Gets along very well with children and the elderly.
A very devoted and diligent individual. Learning, especially through reading and lecture, doesn’t come easy to her, but she will be dutiful and learn if someone where to suggest it’s what she needs to do to become stronger or to be a emerald hand. Prefers things like being outside, sunshine, working hard compared to being inside, sitting down and reading. A very active individual that has often been compared to a dog— has a very excitable personality that enjoys when she or others succeed.
Tends to daydream often and can easily get lost in her world. Is completely horrible and hopeless when it comes to directions and often finds herself getting lost if she isn’t careful.
