As a former Adventurer & member of the local Allirian Militia, Marlo served as a Scout, Guide, and Hunter (of men & beasts). He has seen much, traveled much. Eight years ago, he retired from a life of excitement to open an inn with his wife Kayte Blackbrook. After nearly a decade, The Blackbrook Inn is a well-known stop on the Gold Road where wayfarers, traders, Allerian Guardsmen, and all manner of beings may find a warm bed, a hearty meal, and fine ale.

Appearance

Marlo has been described as roguishly handsome. He possesses a penetrating & intense stare, but an easy smile. His silvery hair is kept short (with assistance from his wife). An array of old scars cover his body and his face is weathered from years on the road; this can lend a certain intimidating appearance, but his friendly demeanor is disarming.

He typically wears simple linen clothing & an apron. A sheathed dagger, a constant companion, rests on his right hip.

Skills and Abilities

Expert Archer, Proficient with small blades & daggers. Highly dexterous.

Conversationalist. Loves to discuss & share news he hears while tending the inn.

Highly skilled chef; specializes in preparing stews & meat.

Experienced in local lore & geography due to his past as a member of the local Militia.

Personality

Always greeting guests to the Blackbrook Inn with a smile, Marlo has wholly embraced his life as an Innkeeper. The saying "Never judge a book by its cover" is an apt description; while his outward appearance lends a certain intimidating air, after a few words & a friendly joke, any worries a stranger might have regarding his demeanor will evaporate.

Many "regulars" passing down the Gold Road claim the Blackbrooks as friends, and Marlo is always willing to share the latest gossip with weary travelers. He enjoys cooking for visitors immensely, and has developed something of a reputation for what he calls "his guessing game"; in-which, he looks at a person and prepares a meal for them based on his assessment.

When the day is done, he often finds himself an open spot near the hearth with his pipe and a beer, and engages visitors in conversation. He takes great pride in making his customers feel welcome.

He is wholly devoted to his wife, and loves her dearly. One of his favorite stories to tell around the fire is the day they met - when she happened to save his life. Their banter & bickering, though at times rather heated, can be quite comical; especially for those who've never stayed at the Inn before.
