Klaus is a human male from Valenntenia. He served for decades with the city Vanguard and recently took up service as a personal bodyguard to the Guardian of Fire.

When the Stone of Fire was taken from his charge, Klaus managed to survive with serious wounds and return to Valenntenia to report the incident. He took this event to heart and is striving every day to right his own failure.

Klaus was born to civilians within Valenntenia. He supposedly carried the blood of the city's ancestors, and so was inspired at a young age to join the Vanguard as a hopeful to ascend to a Guardian.

While Klaus diligently served his city, events never played out for Klaus to become a Guardian. With such a thing never happening, he happened to begin his own family, his wanderlust settled down, and he accepted that his dreams of becoming a Guardian would go unfulfilled. At his current age, he would even be too old to be nominated.

Not too long ago, Klaus was approached by the Guardian of Fire to serve as a personal bodyguard during the Guardian's journey across the world. With his children in adulthood, old enough for themselves to join the Vanguard as well, Klaus answered the call.

Unfortunately, his journeys with the Guardian of Fire ended in tragedy. The two were ambushed one day by a foe that overpowered them. This foe severely wounded Klaus - scarring him and leaving him without an arm. Klaus managed to return to Valenntenia to bring the new: someone was hunting for the Stones.
