Appearance

Iskandar is a lean individual, having very little fat on him, though some might argue that he also has very little muscle; regardless, he has the build and gait of a fencer. Complementing this physcial appearance, Iskandar also has an almost scholarly, yet rakish, demeanor about him. He has two small scars coming from the outer corners of his eyes, and another one slicing through the right side of his lip. His hypnotic amber, almost golden, eyes look as if they were made of multiple facets; his hair is a much more mundane dark brown, nearly black, color. His skin is tanned from his time on the docks of Annuakat. Embedded in both of his hands are large, almost palm sized, zultanite gemstones; originating from the gemstones is a circuitry-like wrist sleeve tattoo design made from crushed zultanite, ending at around the middle of the forearm.

Iskandar prefers to wear a combination of lightweight clothing made from Merino wool; most of the items that make up his from his wardrobe consist of clothing suited for the desert climate of Amol-Kalit, though thanks to his apprenticeship at Elbion, he wears a practical waistcoat jacket in order to stay warm, and sometimes switches it out for a gambeson.

Skills and Abilities

Luminancy: Iskandar has a year under his belt after completing his apprenticeship to his former master, Aster Corovus. As such, he has learned the following abilities:
-Light Constructs: Iskandar has learned enough about light to form constructs to around the size of a spear, or a large round shield. Furthermore, such constructs last for around 5 seconds after they leave his touch. He often uses this to make platforms, as well as temporary weapons.
-Light Illusions: Another aspect of Luminancy that Iskandar learned, he can bend light to not only blur his appearance in the eyes of others, but also to create small mirages that can confuse others.
-Ritual of the Prism: The scars on Iskandar's eyes, as well as their sheen, show that he has partaken of this ritual.
-Ritual of the Link: Iskandar has also performed the Ritual of the Link, denoting that he has a bonded weapon; normally, the weapon he prefers is in the form of a slim, long, Messer sword.

Skilled with the Blade: As befitting of a mage where their abilities can be so dependent on martial skill, Iskandar is skilled at swordplay; his style is very much as if he is fencing, with an emphasis on slashing and cutting rather than thrusting and piercing. Despite his skill, Iskandar's skill only goes so far; while he is more than capable of defeating a man-at-arms or common bandit in a fight, he cannot compare to a dedicated duelist.

Acrobatic: Iskandar has developed quite a lot of time learning how to use platform creation to hop around in the air; despite the fact that this is very draining on his Gemstone reserves, this has led to Iskandar being very skilled in parkour, tumbling, and general feats of dexterity.

Precocious: Iskandar is able to retain information almost like how his Gemstone retains Solus energy. Ask him about dates, how to perform certain rituals, or what alchemical components are required for a certain potion, and Iskandar will be able to recite back with clarity what he knows, even if it came from just a glance. If only the same could be said for his facial recognition and organization skills...

Personality

Iskandar, upon first glance, seems to be a very reserved individual. However, don't let that fool you. Upon first speaking to him, it becomes very clear that he's an enthusiastic individual. Still quiet, but in many topics he speaks of, he shows a childlike excitement, and can even wave his hands around when he's riled up enough.

Iskandar also is very keen to try and do something great, something that will simultaneously leave a mark on the world and help others. Or at the very least, have an adventure trying! This attitude, combined with the trait of always wanting to discover the end of a mystery or story, can often make Iskandar seem reckless. And that's probably true. Thankfully, that's given him time to hone his on-the-spot schemes.

While Iskandar likes making friends and talking to people, he can get tired of company quickly, and oftentimes retreats into moments of silence where it seems like he sulks, when in fact he's just tapped out for the day. He's always willing to help a friend out... granted, he always seems to gain something out of such endeavors himself, but at the very least he sticks through with the companion until the end.

Iskandar, despite being an almost happy-go-lucky, devil-may-care figure, has some things he'd rather keep buried. One such not-so-secret is that he refuses to drink any alcoholic beverage; in fact, he even goes so far as to refuse entering certain taverns. He can seem as if he looks down upon those who enjoy their drinks; the truth is, Iskandar is terrified of the stuff. After suffering through what his father put him through, the very notion of drinking gives Iskandar a feeling of dread and bad memories.

Iskandar also has a tendency to fixate on problems to an unhealthy degree when pushed. He oftentimes feels like the answer to a solution is right at the tip of his mind, and he will spend hours, sometimes even days, chasing that seemingly just out of reach piece of inspiration. This spiral into obsession often leads him away from people and into isolation as he forces himself to try and solve that one unsolvable problem.

One last thing to note about Iskandar: He likes cooking. He absolutely adores it. Is he good at it? Creator forbid, no! His culinary 'creations' are often disasters!

Biography & Lore

Iskandar was born in Annuakat, to Rennovan and Allie Azleth. Iskandar's childhood was brief; only three years after he was born, his mother died. Iskandar to this day still does not know how his mother died, as his father refused to tell him when he lived with him. However, while devastated, Rennovan seemingly pushed on. For five more years, Rennovan continued his life as an accomplished metalworker and blacksmith. Then, came the day where his employers found out that Rennovan had developed a drinking problem. A bad one. After causing a fire that nearly destroyed a block, Rennovan was fired, and forced to pay a large sum. Thus began the spiral downards.

Rennovan began treating Iskandar worse and worse, and his alcoholism became more and more clear. Barely a year later, and Iskandar was taking every opportunity to get out of the new hovel they now called home, while Rennovan began working at the dock and generally drinking with more disreputable company. As a result of this, he fell into a band of other urchins, and it was then that the next phase of Iskandar's life began.

Iskandar, since he grew up learning how to read, was often the one who would read news to the other children; however, stories wasn't all he did, as he learned that the rest of them often resorted to stealing from others to survive. And, since Iskandar was now in the same boat as them, he joined them. For the next six years, Iskandar would run around, causing shenanigans and trouble with the little group he was in, getting into and barely escaping from scrapes. Until his fifteenth birthday.

On that day, Iskandar saw that an older man had left an enormous chunk of gemstone sitting on a table, in plain sight. After organizing the others into causing a scene, Iskandar used the ensuing distraction to steal the gemstone. Unluckily for him, the old man caught him. But rather than throw him to the guard, the man commented that he was surprised that the boy survived, and promptly poked him.

What happened afterwards, Iskandar always remembers with a mix of fondness and astonishment. The man introduced himself as Forrell Tonor, and that he was a specific type of mage called a luminancer. Furthermore, he went on to explain that he was surprised that Iskandar survived because he just so happen to overcharge said gemstone with magical energy, and that anyone holding said stone with their bare hands at that moment for an extended amount of time surely would have been burnt. Finally, after explaining, he eventually took a good long look at Iskandar, and finally asked him if he would be his apprentice.

Before Iskandar could answer, an incident happened where the urchins tried to rescue Iskandar. Forrell then proceeded to show his magical prowess, stopping the attempted assault, before chastising the urchins. He then proceeded to make his request to Iskandar again, to which Iskandar agreed. Though, Iskandar told Forrell about his father. Forrell simply told Iskandar he would deal with his father.

Which he did; Iskandar doesn't know how Forrell convinced Rennovan to let him go, but all Iskandar knew was that he was now Forrel's apprentice, and under his care. And on this continued for another eight years. During this time, Forrell took Iskandar to his home in Elbion, and spent a good majority of those eight years either learning Luminancy, learning how to use the sword, or travelling around the region around Elbion and generally helping his master achieve different adventures. During this time, Iskandar had that chunk of gemstone he nearly stole implanted into his hands; and decided to opt into getting some more of that gemstone crushed and made into tattoos around his wrists. It was also during this time that Forrell managed to convince Iskandar about the Messengers, and Iskandar would finally take some sort of religion in his life. Later on, when he was nearing his graduation, he managed to obtain a gemstone large enough to finish the both the ritual of the Link and the ritual of the Prism. Shortly afterwards, when he finished his apprenticeship, he decided to move to Oban, where he felt like he could earn a living there.

He hated Oban. It was a cesspool in his eyes. While meeting new people was nice, the restrictive, almost superiority complex-like attitude of the locals oftentimes made him frustrated and angry. He oftentimes would attempt to peddle his craft, and try his hand at mercenary work and the like, only for people to choose the more locally owned groups that ran around. After two years of this, Iskandar decided he had enough.

He'd heard of a new city, called Volta. If the stories were true, then Volta was a fascinating place, surely worth exploring! So Iskandar packed up his bags, and left Oban to travel to Volta, to meet up with a friend of his he met during his apprenticeship to Forrell; the man offered Iskandar a place to stay while he got set up, and Iskandar wasn't going to refuse the chance to move to a more sustainable location!
