Gerhardt von Langenberg
Appearance
The lich has a sickly, skeletal appearance in his normal form, presenting an unsettling grimace to any who are unused to his presence. To help mask this he normally wears a mask and a cloak both inside and outside the college
Skills and Abilities
Gerhardt is a master of numerous magical schools, however, his true specialty lies in runecraft, which is how he has held his tenure for the past 200 or so years.
His main way of defense is through rune inscribed knives which he keeps inside his cloak, which have various magical effects, however as a fallback, he will use normal sorcery.
As a Lich he has a large internal supply of magical energy, allowing him to cast many spells independently without destroying himself. He can also draw in magical energy from just about any source that he desires, however, this takes time he won't have in a fight.
As a Lich he also has a phylactery, allowing his physical body to be destroyed without actually killing him, in order to properly kill him you would also need to destroy his phylactery.
As a Lich he is rather slow, and his physical abilities besides raw strength are rather limited. His physical body is also rather frail, and easy to break. This is countered somewhat by his ability to use a phylactery but it is still a major issue.

Personality
Gerhardt is a knowledge seeker at his core, nothing is too obscure, too dangerous, or too impossible for him to attempt to know. This was the reason he became a lich in the first place, he refused to die if it meant he could no longer attain knowledge of any description.
He wishes to share his knowledge as well, sometimes irresponsibly. He had published book after book on lichdom however many professors seem to believe that this was irresponsible due to the dangers involved.
He sometimes comes off as rather cold and calculating, speaking as little as possible to accomplish what he wishes to say.

Biography & Lore
The College of Elbion has a dirty little secret. Well, secret is a somewhat shaky term, since everyone who has read into the college knows, they have a Lich. However, this is no city destroying lich which only hungers for souls, no, this lich hungers for knowledge.
For 200 or so years this Lich has been the college's professor of runecraft and has diligently worked on his craft without causing any issues, however that does not stop people from being suspicious of the undead sitting in the secretive college. While most accept that his contributions to the art of magic are rather substantial, many of these contributions are rather... dangerous to say the least.
He was born a normal human, of a minor merchant family in Elbion, however, his magical aptitude and curiosity lead him to the College, in which he would practice magic for the next 20 years. However, disaster struck when he was diagnosed with some unknown illness. Facing death, he poured over ancient scrolls for days at a time trying to find a solution. Eventually, he stumbled upon the procedure to become a Lich, and seeing it as his only chance, he took the risk. He documented the process meticulously, and upon his successful transformation, published these notes without a thought as to the consequences of it.
