Garrick was born with magical talent and prowess, but was not born with means. Aiming to grow his talents he snuck away from his village as a young boy and joined a band of merchants to gain passage to Elbion. A few years later he made it to his destination, working odd jobs in the city before his application was finally accepted. The first year was a trying but rewarding experience for Garrick, that was until the bill for tuition came. Garrick bartered and negotiated his way to gaining a few weeks leniency, and thinking fast heard that about a lucrative job requiring the services of a mage. Garrick ended up over his head, joining a ring of art thieves after an exquisite painting. While not perfect, Garrick did well enough, and garnered enough funds to pay for his debt and another year of tutelage. Now he continues his studies, and tries to pull off one big job a year to keep going.
