Falciandel
Appearance
Almost gaunt in his build, pale as snow, and frail as a twig.
Skills and Abilities
- College magic: Studious and academically gifted, Falciandel has flourished at the College of Elbion. However, though he has excelled in his courses, he is far from an expert in any particular field of study. Nevertheless, he has a budding talent in a couple of pursuits.
- Alchemy: Falciandel is especially gifted in alchemy, a talent he's taken full advantage of to fuel sleepless nights studying. Brewing potions that improve focus and reduce fatigue is second nature to him now, but, with the right materials, he can brew potions with a variety of effects.
- Transmutation: The other magical pursuit that Falciandel has a particular talent for, though his grasp on it isn't quite on par with alchemy. Can convert inorganic objects to other materials. The more similar the material, the easier conversion is.
- Cooking and baking
- Languages: fluent in Common and Elven
Personality
Insecure and plagued with self-doubt, Falciandel hides it behind a facade of confidence. His studies are spurred in large part by a fear of failure, that his life will ultimately amount to nothing. He pours his time and energy into his studies to gain a sense of control over his direction in life. Academic achievement is something he can control and has a more clearly defined path than many other pursuits, so Falciandel latches onto it.
Biography & Lore
A bastard child of two merchants. His parents decided to make the most of their situation and married, further entangling their business ventures. Falciandel did not grow up with the extravagant wealth enjoyed by the nobility, but neither did he want for much. However, he was expected to use his education to further his family's economic pursuits. He had little interest in mercantilism, and the expectations placed on him only helped to sour him to it. Falciandel fled to his books, distracting him from more immediate, tangible problems that loomed over him and his family. Tensions between the two halves of his family drove him further into his study of the alchemical and arcane, the realm of possibility being more enticing than the mundanity and bitterness of reality.
His family could still find some purpose for him. Falciandel's efforts had not been in vain, and he earned a seat at the prestigious College of Elbion, an opportunity he eagerly took.
