Unlike many of his peers, Elias was not taken to the Academy of the Dreadlords against his will. When he discovered he had magic ability at the age of five, he fled his home and turned himself over to the Academy willingly. He turned his back on his abusive parents, cruel siblings, and a life of sorrow for the smallest chance at a better future. He sold his soul to Vel Anir, and he has never looked back.

Appearance

Elias is an average man in almost every way. He is average height, average build, and with an appearance that is neither ugly nor beautiful. His face is heavily freckled from his mothers side of the family, and he has the blue eyes of his father. At all times he wears a grey cloak that covers his entire body, with only a pair of white boots visible beneath. The grey hood is always pulled up over his face, and at times all that is visible of the Dreadlord beneath is the hate filled blue eyes, staring out at a world he despises.

Skills and Abilities

Elias Kistler is trained in standard College Magic like all those who attended the Dreadlord Academy, though he practices these skills to a higher and more regularly extent than some of his more specialized peers. He has a particular affinity for elemental magic, and his strength in lightning related spells is second to none among those who graduated with him.

He has a specialized skill he developed at the Academy related to his specialty in lightning, though the use of it comes at a great cost. Elias calls his innate gift 'Storm-Walking". He is able to energize the very air around him within a radius of twenty yards in all directions. He can create a small thunder storm in this area, with the air itself becoming a weapon to shock and weaken his opponent. The clouds that form are so thick that no mortal eye can pierce them normally, and this is where Elias's second ability comes into effect. He is able to feel the electrical current within others, the flow of energy that radiates from every living being, and he can use this sight to fight his opponents within his storm clouds, hitting them from all sides.

This ability comes at great cost to Elias however. Once he uses the ability, he goes blind. Not permanently, but throughout his usage of Storm-Walking, he is unable to see anything with his eyes, and must rely entirely on his senses to navigate. He is unable to use this ability in confined spaces for fear of running into objects, and using it against undead is tantamount to suicide. Even after the Storm-Walking ends, Elias remains blind for days at a time, the longest being nearly a month where he must rely on his senses and memory to navigate. For this reason he uses his ability sparingly, and only when he is faced with little other choice.

He received standard combat training like the other Dreadlords, though he tends to stay away from it if possible. He is able to use a spear to a decent degree, and he can blend the weapon with his lightning magic to create a truly dangerous weapon, but he lacks the absolute coordination and timing necessary to be a skilled warrior. He mostly uses physical weaponry in a defensive manner, relying on his highly offensive based magic talents to win a fight.

Personality

The word most often used to describe Elias would be cold. He has developed a hatred for the world, the people in it, and the fate he has chosen for himself. He was scarred as a child by his family, and his only escape from a life of abuse and neglect was to sell his soul to the Dreadlords. His hatred fueled him while he was at the Academy, helping to forge him into the weapon that the nobles of Vel Anir so enviously sought. When he graduated, his hatred for what he had become came to dominate his life.

Elias makes little effort to go out of his way to get along with others, seeing isolation and self loathing as the price he must pay for the lives he has taken in service to the Dreadlords, though he does not hesitate to do it. He has come to rationalize what he does that while not a perfect system, the stability and control the Dreadlords bring to Vel Anir and her sister cities is preferable to the anarchy and destruction wrought across the rest of the world.

He has moments of civility, where he is willing to help others and do good, but these are few and far between, and the particularly cruel noble family that he serves does their best to "educate" Elias to ensure that he does not lose his lethal edge in a fight. It has gotten to the point where when Elias acts out of kindness, it physically and mentally hurts him, as it goes so far against the nature he has come to know and develop over the decades of his life, further fueling his self hatred.
