To the Esteemed Dreadlords of Vel Anir,
Fix this.
Isolde.
I have been gone for only a short time, yet already I am hearing the most troubling things. Whispers. They spread through your halls of power like carrion birds drawn to something rotten. The Academy, once a crucible where the worthy were tempered in silence, has grown indulgent. Reckless. No longer do your students keep their gifts shrouded in secrecy, nor do they respect the cost of wielding such power.
Your discipline weakens. Tradition frays. Your students speak too freely of what should remain silent.
Once, power in Vel Anir was something earned, hidden, and feared. Now, they parade their gifts like banners in the wind, believing their strength alone can make them untouchable.
You have all forgotten that power does not come from what is known. It does not come from a blade in the hand or fire dancing at fingertips. It comes from what remains unseen, unspoken. Flagrant misuse of power makes them visible. It paints a target on not only their backs, but Vel Anir as a whole. It is foolish to mistake their untrained ability for invincibility. See to it that they understand it is not lightning, nor shadows, nor death that make one unstoppable.
The most dangerous power is that of the unknown.
Your students no longer know fear.
