Letters Verdane

Roleplay dedicated to correspondence type roleplays such as letters.
It would seem the rumblings of your demise were greatly exaggerated.

Some part of me figured that must be the truth. Someone... Something like you, doesn't die so easily. When I heard you'd returned, I can't say I was surprised. Pleased, but not surprised

I write you this letter out of courtesy, chiefly. I am no longer in a position to honor my pledge to provide you with any substantial amusement, at least as it pertains to that cursed city of Anir.

I'm somewhere else now.

I'm something else now.

In some pathetic little cottage, the embers of what was once a village scattered around me. I can't honestly remember if it was like this when I got here, or if I played a part in this destruction. Not that it particularly makes a difference.

I feel somewhat foolish for it, but your absence upset me. So much so that I forced myself to seek new 'friends'. In time, I did find them. Though I am loathe to admit it, I found their presence to be comforting. The experience of having people to trust, to cherish beside myself was... pleasant. Then, I was reminded of why I had scoffed at such 'friendships' before. The moment I was no longer useful to them, the second I became more trouble than they could be bothered to handle, they left me behind.

I know you, of all people, will not offer pity to me. That is why I am willing to share such a tale. The ordeal reminded me of who and what I am. Less than human, or perhaps more. Instead of wasting time on grief, I focused on that. Once I accepted it, I began to change. Now I am beyond ever needing anybody ever again.

Even so, we should meet.

I have something that belongs to you that I ought to return. Call it a momento, to a day of fun in the Grey Quarter between two friends.

I hope to receive correspondence soon. No need for an address, just look for the ravens in the sky. They will gladly deliver your parcel. If not...

Well, I'll find you eventually, either way.

Risen Soleil Verdane

Soleil's signature handwriting, that plain, blocky, almost too careful, almost too perfect style. Though the letter carried by the raven was not signed by her, this made it clear. And the letter read:

Kor,

No demise. Just nap. Nap and wake up. Feel better now!

Village? If you burned, good job! If not, better luck next time!

Friendship? Funny thing. Silly. Use others for gain. You? Right to scoff! Them? Those 'friends'? They gained, you lost. But wait your turn. Then get them. Waiting? Awful! But sometimes necessary.

Less than human? Wrong! More than human? Yes! We think better. We act better. They do dumb things. Because rules. Because morals. Because think wrong. Us? We have gift. We see what they don't.

You? Never need again? Good! Gift. See?

Yes. We meet.

Talk more in person. Paper too small.

xoxo
