Open Chronicles Trapped

"I-I can get it open."
Ferelith would simply nod in acknowledgement. She growled at him as he passed and gave her a weird smile..She didn’t trust it.. He did however succeed in opening the door with some kind of acidic compound melting the lock.

Ferelith made a mental note to maybe trust him just a tiny bit more than she had previously.

This was when the guards decided to show up. Her glowing tattoo flickered and dimmed as she ran to one of the guards and punched him. Her hand clanged off his armored breast plate harmlessly.

“Huh?” She grunted quizzically looking at her hand as the black armored guards sword speared her in the gut.

She gurgled.

Struggling to grab his wrist as she sank to her knees. More guards began to enter behind him emboldened by the swift victory.

“Run. I’ll catch up..” She wheezed out to her fellow escapees as the black armored guard put a boot on her shoulder to pull the blade free before moving to cut off her head.

Her tattoo flickered to a full glow as the blade arced towards her neck. Her hand grabbed his wrist with a speed that rendered her movements a blur.

This time his arm halted.

“What the..” He growled as Ferelith looked up into his visor. Her wound closing up with a warm blue glow.

This time when her fist connected the armor caved in like it was made of paper sending the massive man flying backwards. Minus an arm.

She still held it by the wrist prying the sword from the locked fingers around its handle. Giving it a few practices swings before chucking the arm at the door her companions had hopefully exited out of already.

A couple of guards were beginning to try and pursue them.

The arm flew end over end like some kind of nightmarish tomahawk as the plate armor smacked into one of the pairs head. Making them turn around and witness the outcome of a fight they had already thought over. They both looked at the arm and stepped aside as she passed.

There would be more guards. And probably some even worse nasties hiding in the corners of this place but as for this cell block at the moment.

They were all finally free. Her right hand was turning from a mangled mess to a normal hand once more as the woman ran to catch up to her companions.

As she was alone she didn’t have to hold in her squeaks of pain as the bones clicked back into place along with her ligaments and muscles.

She had to stop punching things harder than her fist..She saw them a little ways ahead so she sped up to finally reach them.

“Everyone ok? I personally couldn’t be better.” She muttered as her right shoulder clicked back into place once more. Twice within an hour. That could probably be some personal record of hers. Her mind quit wandering as she snapped back to the present.

“So what now...” she asked “I’d rather not have to keep fighting if we can help it..” Ferelith said shaking away the ghostly pain in her right hand as it slowly faded.

The sounds of more heavily armored and armed guards sounded as the prison went on high alert.

“Or maybe I’ll have to kill every guard in here..” She said with a sigh like she was talking about hanging laundry or shoveling out a horses stall rather than systematically ending numerous lives one by one.

"You need to either open this door and we keep on fighting guards, or we bust down the wall into the sewers and take our chances with thieves and vermin."

"Rats?" Honey asked, terrified. Now, rodents in general, Honey adored and found absolutely adorable. Mice, hamsters, gerbils. Even a pet rat, if it was clean and a relatively normal size, Honey would happily coo over... But sewer rats? Those things could grow to the size of dogs! She'd heard stories about them eating small children alive! Now, she was no child, but if a group of giant dog sized rats thought that she looked tasty, Honey didn't much fancy her chances. Not to mention all the deadly diseases they carried. And even if she managed to survive the giant sewer rats, there was always the risk of getting flooded and drowning in filthy sewer water. "I... I don't think it's safe," Honey objected. Then again, staying here and fighting more guards didn't exactly sound any safer.

Luckily for her, Arius had a plan. She had no idea what kind of magic he was using, but just like that, the lock was destroyed and the door was open. "You did it!" Honey cheered, throwing her arms around the man in gratitude... But they weren't quite out of the woods yet. More guards appeared... And poor Ferelith was taking the brunt of it.

"Ferelith!" Honey screamed as the guard's blade penetrated her stomach. The woman called for them to run. She said she would catch up... But she wouldn't catch up. She would die. "No, no, no!" Honey cried desperately, backing away without a clue what to do. "We can't leave her!" she insisted. After all, she was the reason they had escaped in the first place. If they made it out of here tonight, the three of them would owe their lives to her. They couldn't just leave her here to die!

All of this was true. And yet something else was equally true. Honey couldn't fight. She had no weapon of any kind and even if she did, she had absolutely no idea how to use it. If she stayed, there was absolutely nothing she could do for Ferelith except die right there with her. "Oh Gods no," Honey whispered to herself as tears poured down her eyes. There was absolutely nothing she could do for Ferelith now. All she could do was try to save her own skin. Selfishly, she made that decision.

Running as fast as she could out of those doors, she only paused to make sure that Arius and Fera were close by. "What do we do?" she asked panickily, not knowing the city very well. "Where do we go from here?" But suddenly, she caught sight of a face she had never expected to see again. "Ferelith!" Honey cried, rushing over to the woman, colliding with her in a warm embrace, then glancing over her in absolute wonder. "But... But he stabbed you, I saw it!" Honey declared in awe as she stared at the spot on Ferelith's stomach where the guard's sword had gone in. What had happened? Had it been some kind of illusion? A trick of the light, maybe? Surely, no one could have survived an attack like that!

Ferelith flinched as she was met with an embrace she wasn’t prepared for. She wasn’t used to people being surprised to see her. Well in any positive regard at least. She blushed and quickly pulled away after returning it with a short squeeze.

“Were it so easy..” She said with a smirk. A smirk that quickly died as she somewhat sheepishly covered her exposed midriff noticing a gorgeous girl like Honey staring.

She knew it was awed disbelief opposed to lustful but all the same she felt rather unattractive at the moment. Messing with her hair in slight embarrassment she felt something.

“Oh.” She said surprised removing her hand to reveal a couple of teeth.

“Make a wish.” She said somewhat childish giddiness. Crushing them to powder in her hand before closing her eyes and blowing away the dust. “So..” She said glancing about.

“Where to now..” She said glancing about her surroundings. Her eyes falling on the raccoon as she looked at her expectantly. The creature seemed to know her way around this place.

Fera had liked the big guard. He had been in the pocket of Vince for all his career. In fact Vince had paid for his training to join the guard. But for a career criminal he had always been kind to Fera. Even when she was little and wild.

So, her heart sank when she saw his dismembered arm flying through the air. Not that there was anything she could do about that now. She had been hiding in the shadows but now trailed behind Ferelith as she caught up with the rest of the group.

When they finally burst out of the prison complex via an unguarded door – presumably because the guards had gone inside to help with the fighting – Ferelith looked down at Fera for guidance. But all Fera could do was shrug. It was evening but the streets were still busy with people returning from work. The belltower in the prison grounds was ringing out across the city. It wouldn’t be long until the city watch was present.

“We need to hide… somewhere,” she said, looking about. “This way!”

With that she took off across the cobblestones, surprisingly fast for something so round and roly-poly. She turned a few corners, ducked down a narrow alley full of merchants packing up stalls for the day, checking over her shoulder to make sure her friends were still in tow. After another several turns she arrived at a nondescript door of a private residence. She reached up to the low knocker but instead of knocking, she twisted it one rotation anti-clockwise, then pushed the door open into darkness.

“One of Vince’s safe houses,” she said to the others, after they had barrelled in after her. “Bar the door, would you?” she said to the last one through.
