Brown leather loafers padded down the hallway, they were silent and cautious, yet still knew exactly where to go. Following the sound of the footsteps, the soft slushing sound of a dragging robe echoed. The robe casted a shadow over the slender figure as it moved around the corridors of the dark college.

Mission was to find the most secluded part of the college as possible. This was the most important part of the mission. Pushing a loose stone, a hidden key was used, unlocking a room the young mage had found only a few weeks prior. Inside, candles and hand drawn circles were strewn all over the small hidden room. Spencer sat down and pulled out her quill and poked her finger, the tip of her finger bled and she finished the last part of the summoning circle she needed.

It had taken weeks to get to this part, the last thing she needed was to accidently faint from her use of her blood to make the large summoning circle. “Okay, now I just need a picture of a cat and then we’re good.” The girl propped up a drawn and colored picture of a tabby, white with brown spots and heterochromia eyes. “So unique!” She squealed and then settled down. Focus was key here, exhaling she began to channel her focus and magical knowledge into the circle. She used that mind’s eye thing her teachers spoke about to search out a powerful being, a powerful cat familiar to come from the netherworld or whatever the other world of the spirits was called and enter her realm and become her best friend….

IN. THE. WHOLE. WIDE. WORLD.

Tabatha

Darkness and malice.

They were constant companions for Tabatha as she drifted in the demon realm. With no corporeal body to speak of she was simply a shadow flitting amidst powers equal, but ore often far greater than she. Time was meaningless, it could have been yesterday that the Maesters of Elbion trapped her here, but whispers of the world she couldn’t touch told her otherwise.

Someone would find her, would find a way to bring her back and then she would exact her revenge. Someone would. Someone had too. The longer she spent here the harder it became to cling to the reality that had brought her to this demise. Thoughts became twisted and warped her memories. Soon she would forget her existence as an elf, soon she would simply become another spirit filled with nothing but hate.

She felt something tug at her, a call for her to come. She resisted at first, until the summon was too loud to ignore. Something in her mind reminded her that this was what she had wanted, that the summons would be her freedom. Tabatha let go of the mental anchor she’d made in her little corner of the netherworld.

The first thing she felt was pain, pain as she was ripped away from the darkness into a warm body that felt everything she hadn’t for over a century. She took a breath, tasting the air, feeling it burn her new lungs. She opened her eyes, bright candlelight burning them, she tried to scramble away from it, but everything felt wrong. The body felt wrong. Something gave a pitiful mew of panic, it took her a moment to realise that noise had come from her.

Her eyes adjusted to the light and she found herself staring up at a blonde haired girl. Staring up...she should have been looking down at a girl. “What..?”

Tabatha looked down at herself and let out horrified scream. “NO! No no no no no no no no.” She twisted, examining the herself before looking at the girl. “YOU STUPID CHILD! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?”
