Gwynnestri Ravaneiros could not rest. Being a princess, these threats to her safety should be expected, but it still didn't make it any less real, especially after a near miss with Death. Just the other night, she had been walking through the courtyard, when she had been tackled from behind, a blade pressing against her back. She had only made it out alive because her shriek had alerted her guard and they had fended off her attacker. They had been unable to identify him beyond his gender, and in an effort to console her, Gwynnestri's father had promised swift and immediate justice, in the form of hired bodyguard.
Someone to protect her and hunt down her stalker, who was getting braver by the day. She supposed she should be glad that she would be protected, but she wouldn't sleep until she met her protector, and even then she might not rest until her stalker was dead.
Currently, she was sitting on her smaller throne, besides her mother and father as they awaited the mercenary's arrival. She fidgeted nervously with her ivory skirt, curling and uncurling her toes inside her embroidered satin shoes. Her hands froze when the door to the throne room opened and a footmen spoke up. "Reynard De Eramant," he announced stepping to the side.
