Waves crashed into the pier's beams and support as the sun sets behind the ocean to the west. The sound of the gulls and the ocean made Nate relax some as he laid back on the pier yawning, listening for the sound of a fish taking a bite of the bait they offered it. A small fire pit was next to him, with sand under it and damp wood to help prevent an unnecessary fire.
"You know Willis, I don't mind fishing but do we have to do it when the sun is setting?" He asks his fellow hunter. A human of darker skin color. "If anything the high tide would be coming in later on and maybe swallow up this whole pier." He remarks taking out a bottle of cool beer and takes a nice drink of it. He enjoyed the taste and bitterness of the drink even if there was no longer enjoyment or drunkenness from it. Just like water.
The lycan watches the on coming stars sighing. They weren't just there to fish, the two of them were hunting for Siren. Or maybe Sirens knowing their luck. Nasty buggers with their songs leading sailors and people to their watery demise. This job required more than one person as a result, no matter if the other said they would be fine. A lapse in thinking with their songs could indeed be a hunter's last. And the old man didn't want that to happen.
Though his ruling did make it one of the few times he did work with another hunter, usually Nate went after the other were-creatures and vampires or some other beasts that were challenging for a normal human. After all his infection did make him immune to the viruses that could turn a human into another monster that may be a violent one without a choice. Unlike those pedigree of monsters, he had a choice for the most part when to let go. Something his family worked hard to achieve for generations and at the cost of many of his ancestors in the process.
