Private Tales Skipping Class

A private roleplay only for those invited by the first writer
"I skipped class because I do not want to do the thinking... but training is a good way to let one's mind sort itself better afterwards. C'mon.... think of this like... Anirball training. Deep observational awareness to be a better player." He was more warrior than scribe, and always believed he benefited from better from physical instruction than theoretical.

Lachlan smiled at her, giving her a cheeky grin as his hand offered to help her up.

"You wanna show Quinnick you can be quicker?" Even Lachlan would like to see the look on the girl's face when Thraah landed a facer, a quick jab to surprise just about anyone.

"If you don't do this with me, then I am going to seek you out in training class and show your weak points before the entire class." Stoking the fire may not be smart, but Lachlan never liked to live life playing safe.

"Yaknow..."
Thraah let Lachy help her to her feet and brushed the whatever from her tunic.
"For someone who claims they don't wanna do any thinking, ya put a lotta thought into that answer!"
She huffed a laugh into a long needed stretch and strolled a few paces away from the tree.
As was tradition among Inititates she was armed but she didn't know what Lachy was expecting. Her hand resting on the hilt of her short sword she turned to him.
"All right, how are we doing this? Weapons? Magic? Bare handed? Left hands only?"
She wagged her left hand in the air for emphasis as she threw out the least reasonable option. She wouldn't admit it to Lachy but the idea of giving Liv a smack on the kisser was wildly appealing.

"Weapons sound good." He had gone without his twin swords that day, but the Academy and his life on Vel Odren had better prepared him to still be a force without being armed proper. "Quinnick ain't the greatest in swordcraft, but she's fast." Meaning she was good at evading.

"Swing at my middle, and I will show you what she does differently." He would be unable to do it justice, but the principle of it was at least achievable by him. "Come on, step up a little closer if you're using that toothpick!"

"Toothpick? Gladys-2, did you hear that?"
Thraah feigned insult as she drew her arming sword and spoke to it as if it could hear her, a short weapon, simple and effective unlike most everything else about her it stood out in its plainness. Lachy had her though, she was gonna use what he knew to get at Liv one day and it would be sweet as apple tart!
"Alright. Here I come."
She struck a simple fencing pose, one hand behind her back and the point out straight then made an advancing strike where Lachy told her to. Her goal was not to hurt him so she pulled back on the power of the swing but she made it as fast as she could all the same, he was the one who claimed he could get out of the way!

Lachlan anticipated the lunge, stepping back onto his foot and spinning round just in time to watch Thraah finish her follow through. When she made the same attacking move, Lachlan too kept evading and turning to block with his arm guard or evade another quick advance from the other Initiate.

"Quinnick dances around an opponent. There are few of us that can keep up, but I have seen her work enough to know that a lot of her defense is how quick she is on her feet. She turns alot, like she would as a ballerina if she did not become a Dreadlord Initiate." Lachlan grinned, nodding at Thraah to now continue. "This time, focus on feinting. Lead me into thinking you're gonna strike but look for where I will go and meet me there." He was not as graceful or disciplined in his footwork in what he was trying to replicate, but the lesson was still there.

"Yeah, I get it."
No way Liv was a better dancer than her. These moves were basic. Still she humored Lachy and feinted as he asked. Taking instruction always felt like it was lasting a hundred years. She'd have to mix it up soon but for now getting the edge on Liv was priority.
The idea of Liv being a ballerina made her laugh to herself, a bitter kind of resentment that was saved for people who were too close to really acknowledge.
It made her follow up swing harder than she really meant it to be.

Lachlan was too large in physique to move with a grace that took years of training and discipline. He was slower, not as nimble, but as soon as he saw the shift in Thraah's stance, he jumped back and narrowly missed her hard swing. "Oi!" He called out, frowning at her.

"Stop there." A few more paces back and he watched Thraah. "Trying to cut the person that offered to help you out, Thraah, or you just humouring me?" But he was not smiling. Lachie rarely gave a fuck to help another person like this, but he had thought the Initiate had an interest in studying an opponent.

Thraah did stop her sword hung limp at her arm as her face scrunched at Lachey's question and tried her best to be honest.
"... Sorry okay? I just don't like Liv and you keep going on about how great she is."
She bit back the word avalanche that threatened to burst from her mouth with some visible effort.
"What's so great about her anyway? She can dance, I can dance!"
Thraah spun backwards into a pirouette with a grace she rarely let others know about. It wasn't ballet but it was graceful.
"She can fight? Pfft, everyone knows I can fight and hard too."
She let out a frustrated grunt as she swung her sword at nothing, speaking more to herself now than Lachey.
"She's NOT better than me!"
Thraah's temperature began to rise to meet her feelings under the shade of the tree.
