Ebony paws padded in silence over the sands of time. Sapphire eyes scanned the desert before her as she trotted through the heat. Her ebony pelt soaked up the warmth, her lean muscles rippling beneath her pelt with each movement the wolf made.

This heat, this terrain was definitely not what she was used to and she was heating up alot as she moved. A leather bag, stained crimson rested over her neck and shoulder, carrying the only clothes she had left. The sight of the canine with a bag hanging over it would no doubt be an odd one but that reality didn't phase her.

She was on a hunt, what she was looking for was questionable even to her, but she new she needed to find something, move from her normal life and seek out more things that life could offer her. As she ran she saw some trees within the distances and some water. That would be a great place to rest.

As she moved closer, her ebony nose rose, flaring as she scented the air around her. She caught nothing off the bat and as she scanned the area nothing instantly was caught in her sapphire eyesight either. She slipped beneath the tree, crimson tongue rolled out the side of her mouth as she caught her breath. Even in the shade it was uncomfortablely warm. She shifted, her ebony fur melting away into her pale white flesh. She reached to her shoulder, pulling the crimson bag from around her neck and settling on the ground by the base of the tree. Now, from her taller vantage point she again looked around, but still nothing caught her eyes.

She walked to the water queitly not needing to remove clothing or anything as she had just shifted from her wolven form and there was no clothing transition when shifting. As she walked to the water she reached up and unbraided her thigh length ebony hair, slowly treading into the water. She kept her sapphire eyes peeled just in case, as she slipped into the cool water.

“Wally m’dear, I think I see an oasis!” Asen said, sitting up along the back of his Griffin. The peregrine wasn’t a particularly large creature; roughly the size of a small quarter horse. She was built for speed, not power, and Asen had to ride in an unusual way to work with her. He had to lay along her back, knees just above her ribs and his legs folded along her back and hips. His elbows rested forward from her wings, giving her all the room she needed, with his head above and behind hers. Sitting up shifted his weight a little, but Walborga was used to Asen getting distracted and throwing her off. Once it would have near-pitched her out of the sky. Now she barely wobbled to correct him.

I think you’re right. She glanced down, and lifted her tiny ears a bit. But it’s occupied.

“Oh damn that. Just drop me in. Straight away! Do what you did on my birthday yeah? Roll and dive!” Asen grinned like a schoolboy, and Walborga rolled her eyes.

I don’t know how deep that water is.

“Ach don’t be a fledgie, s’dark enough for least a midway roll yeah? C’mon, please? For me, Wally?”

She rose up high over the oasis, and casually rolled down and over. Asen quite happily released himself from the saddle and flung himself, fifty feet through the air, down towards the water. He tucked his knees up and grabbed them to his chest, letting out a loud whoop as he plunged into the oasis. It was deep enough to tolerate his suicidal dive, but he still felt his rear end butt the sandy bottom quite firmly.

Asen fought to the surface of the cooler water and flung a gloved fist up in the air with a loud victory cry. Walborga landed, fixing her wings and taking delicate sips of the water. Asen was happy to paddle around and let weeks of grime float off of his clothing. He stripped off his gloves, leather vest, and cotton undershirt, throwing them onto the shore with a wet plop. Walborga sighed and picked them up, tossing them over a low-hanging palm tree to dry. Well, at least he was clean.

Asen’s pants hit her in the face, and she threw them off with an indignant hiss. Quit it! She snapped, grabbing a boot out of the air and setting it in the sun. Her stark naked companion flopped on his back, floating and grinning at her with that missing-eye tooth smile.

“Relax! First we’ve seen in weeks. You know you want to take a bath.” Asen laughed, and ducked under the water to wash the filth out of his hair. He bumped into something. That caused an immediate reaction. He practically flew out of the water, cackling, and looked back. “Ey! Better not be one o’those murderous logs we saw in the FC right there, Wally?” He laughed uproariously.

Sephrenia Whitefury

Sephrenia had made her way slowly into the cool water, stopping at hip height to let herself adjust to the temperature difference before she dunked herself fully beneath the water, soaking her ebony hair and washing the sweat from her face. As she came up from beneath the cool liquid a shadow flew over her and something dropped into the water before her. She blinked slightly, Sapphire eyes following the griffin curiously as she tilted her head a little. She lifted her nose to the air above, taking in the scent of the animal, as well as trying to tell what had dropped within the waters before her. She tore her eyes from the griffin, turning it to the blue ripples of water, waiting for the water to calm slightly so she could see what had found solace in the water.

As she watched the water ripple a fist exploded from the water and Sephrenia stepped back, raising an ebony brow as she looked to the man in front of her, his back to her. She said nothing as she watched him, once again sniffing the air to take in his scent, storing the scent into her mental database. As the man began paddling, she sidestepped slightly, slipping into a shadowed spot, remaining in the water as she watched the man through curious eyes. Her nudity meant nothing to her, the concept of nudity being wrong was a human concept that her kind did not understand or subscribe to.

Her eyes turned to the griffin as it landed, she had seen their species once or twice before but not much more. She watched it quietly, it’s beauty was astonishing as it lowered it’s head to the water to drink. A wet plop brought Seph out of her zoned out gaze on the griffin and she turned her eyes to the pile of clothing beginning to grow upon the shore. The griffin came into view as it gathered the clothing and hung them. Then the man’s pants hit the griffin in the face and she hissed. “Quit it!” and caught the man’s boot out of the air. The man stretched out on his back, floating in the water, leaving NOTHING to the imagination, not that the wolven female paid much mind.

“Relax! First we’ve seen in weeks. You know you want to take a bath.”

The man sunk beneath the water again, his hands running through his hair as he washed the filth from himself. As he did he backed into her though she attempted slightly to get out of the way. He jumped forward, laughing rapturously as he turned towards her. A slender ebony brow was raised above her sapphire eyes as she watched him finally notice her.

“Ey! Better not be one o’those murderous logs we saw in the FC right there, Wally?”

“A log, I am not sir, though murderous is an occasional state of being that I have been known to encompass.”

She smiled faintly, reaching up to mess with her long ebony hair, her eyes trailing from the man, to the griffin, back to the man cautiously.

Asen Illfort

Asen pushed his wet hair back from his face and smiled at the woman. Not a crocodile, absolutely not. The thing in the water was a woman, and that caught his interest immediately. “Well hello there.” He grinned, stepping back toward the water. He had very little concept of personal space or, really, self preservation. “You’re not gonna bite my head off second I get in the water yeah? Wouldn’t’ve taken a siren settlin’ this far but the fish folk got their ways.” He offered a hand to her, seemingly in complete contrast. Even if she was a siren with her eyes on a meal, he clearly didn’t fear her. “Asen Illfort. Fastest catbird rider in the world.”

Walborga huffed and shook her head, coming to stand behind Asen. She could snatch him if he got himself into too much trouble. “This’ere is me best mate in Arethil, Wally.” Asen patted the griffin’s neck. “How’re’ya now?”

Hurt him and I peck out your eyes and leave you for vultures. Wally told the woman stiffly, going to the other end of the pool and beginning to preen her feathers. She took off her saddle, laying the flat pad of leather and horsehair on a rock near the water.

“No mind to her now. How’s about I get you a tall drink? Me not withstanding.” Asen chuckled and patted Sephrenia’s shoulder, walking out of the water and eyeing one of the palm trees. There were scattered date palms, but a few coconut palms had nuts on them. Asen grabbed the tree with his hands and feet, like a monkey would, and clambered up. He knocked down five or six coconuts. The thickly husked nuts thunked down heavily into the sand, and Asen grabbed a pair. “Wally m’love, bird of me heart, do a man a favor?”

Walborga rolled her eyes and helped him strip the husks. Her beak easily punctured the fibers and yanked off chunks, exposing the brown nuts. Asen washed them in the water, and tucked one under his arm. With a wink, he straightened two fingers, and slammed them into the holes of the coconut. It was a stern effort, to be sure, and one Asen had clearly practiced, as a lesser man would have broken or jammed a finger.

Asen strode into the water and offered her the coconut, then opened his own. He tipped some of the milk into his mouth. “So what’s got ya out here love? Lost? Sand blind? Simoon?”

Sephrenia Whitefury

“Well hello there.” the man said as he stepped back towards her, getting rather close, rather quickly. Had she been in either of her other two forms, her fur would have been on edge, and the animal side of her would have ushered forth a growl to warn him how close he was and how uncomfortable it made her, yet she was in her human form, so she kept a grip upon the instinct and said nothing instead.

“You’re not gonna bite my head off second I get in the water yeah? Wouldn’t’ve taken a siren settlin’ this far but the fish folk got their ways.”

His hand was offered and she placed her smaller hand in his lightly as he introduced himself. Asen Illfort. Fastest catbird rider in the world.” Catbird rider, she thought to herself. That was a new name for the animal whom he’d arrived upon. Her eyes turned to griffin again as the beast moved up behind the man with a huff and a shake of it’s feathered head. “This’ere is me best mate in Arethil, Wally. How’re’ya now?”

“Hurt him and I peck out your eyes and leave you for vultures.“
Seph chuckled slightly and nodded. She was no stranger to idle threats, though she had no doubt this animal, especially at this moment, had the upper hand since everything Seph owned was on the shore under the trees. Seph’s sapphire orbs stayed on the griffin as it wandered to the other end of the pool to relax. Her eyes turned back on the man as he once more addressed her.

“No mind to her now. How’s about I get you a tall drink? Me not withstanding.” Was that an underhanded compliment to himself, she wondered with a smirk as he patted her shoulder and headed out of the water towards the trees. His touch upon her shoulder made her flinch slightly, her muscles tensing as the instinct to react tickled her senses. She ignored the temptation however and simply watched him as he climbed the tree as if he were an expert. He was able to release a few coconuts from the tree and after dropping from his place on the tree he picked up a few and moved to Wally. Seph walked out of the water and grabbed a few of the nuts as well and followed slowly, keeping a slight distance between herself and the pair. She settled the nuts she was carrying near the griffin so they would not need to wander back to the tree if they wanted more. She moved back into the water as the griffin stripped the coconuts.

“Wally m’love, bird of me heart, do a man a favor?”

Asen moved to her, offering her a coconut. She lowered her head slightly, bringing the nut to her nose, smelling the fluid within curiously, then following suit and lifting the holes to her mouth to take a drink.

“So what’s got ya out here love? Lost? Sand blind? Simoon?”

“Wandering…” She said softly as she savored the flavor of the coconut milk. “My name is Sephrenia Whitefury… I was simply wandering...”

Asen Illfort

“Easy there love, I don’t bite less’n you ask for it.” Asen chuckled when she stiffened up. Poor thing. Meeting strange men in the desert couldn’t have been easy. She at least seemed at home naked as a bird, as he was. He didn’t mind the view really, letting his eyes rove over her figure as they returned to the water. Ah, it was a bit too hot to be laying around in the sun. Even in the shade it was blistering.

He drank his coconut and watched her with a smile. “Just wanderin’? Not lost? Or you live here eh?” Asen asked. “Not seein a tent or house which is why I’ve a mind to be askin’. Figured you were the same as me and the catbird and wanted a spot of the drink.”

The pilot finished his drink and lobbed it onto the sand, flopping on his back in the water to float. “Man can’t live on coconut and dates alone though. Seen any jackrabbit about?”

Sephrenia Whitefury

“Easy there love, I don’t bite less’n you ask for it.” She rose a brow at his suggestive words, a slight smirk lifting the corner of her mouth. She noted his eyes, eating up the view that was her human form and she pulled her eyes from him and looked back to the griffin quietly as he spoke again.

“Just wanderin’? Not lost? Or you live here eh?”

“Just wandering… Lost would suggest I knew where I was going, and that is not a true statement, so yes. Just wandering.”

“Not seein a tent or house which is why I’ve a mind to be askin’. Figured you were the same as me and the catbird and wanted a spot of the drink.”

“I do not tend to travel in this form, the water feels better in this form however. When I rest it will be up a tree in another form, one that has better defenses than this meager human form.”

She found her sapphire eyes caught by his body as he lay back in the water, his lean muscles, the faint sprinkle of hair trickling down his chest to his stomach and the lines that traced his hips. She shook her head, shaking herself back to reality as she forced her eyes from him and took another drink from her coconut.

“Man can’t live on coconut and dates alone though. Seen any jackrabbit about?”

She lifted her head to the air sniffing it. She smelled nothing of interest and turned her eyes to the Griffin. “I do not smell one, though that means little. Perhaps Wally would have the best view for one, or for a den. If she finds a den I can work my way into it and flush out a rabbit for you.”

Asen smirked at the girl and finished his bathing, scrubbing the dirt out of his hair and enjoying the cooler waters. “Not wise to wander about in the desert. I got the catbird over there what gets me outta trouble. You could have been lost out there. Nothing’ but a sand sea that stretches out yonder till tomorrow.” The man told her. Once the sun fell, the paradise would become quite chilly indeed. As much as the desert had no protection from the burning rage of the sun, it didn’t have protection from the freezing winds at night.

Asen glanced at Walborga. The peregrine was giving the girl a look. Walborga to you. He gets to call me Wally. Not you. She sniffed. Her pilot laughed and splashed water at her.

“Wally m’love don’t be mean!” He cackled.

Sephrenia Whitefury

Sephrenia kept watch upon the pair as she walked out of the water and went to her bag quietly. She began rummaging through it and grabbed a handful of berries, tossing them into her mouth as the man spoke. “Not wise to wander about in the desert. I got the catbird over there what gets me outta trouble. You could have been lost out there. Nothing’ but a sand sea that stretches out yonder till tomorrow.”

Seph smiled softly and nodded. "I appreciate the concern... but I have my ways M'lord. I will be ok in the cold, more so in the cold than in the heat of day..."

She looked to the griffin as the griffin addressed her, quiet rudely actually. "Walborga to you. He gets to call me Wally. Not you." Seph nodded and was about to respond when Asen did instead “Wally m’love don’t be mean!”

Seph nodded to Asen slightly and spoke to the griffin. "As Wally was how you were introduced to me... that is how I addressed you... I appologize your true name was not bestowed upon my ears, but now that it has, I can assure you I will address you as such... Walborga." It was hard to tell if she was being snide, or sweet in her response as she went back to her bag and grabbed her clothes. Slipping into tight black hide pants and pulling a crimson tank top on before running her fingers through her hair. She wasn't sure she trusted these two characters yet... so she would not shift to either of her other forms yet, when they parted ways she would shift. Her other two forms would keep her well through the chill of the night in the desert and she knew it. So she would wait.

Asen Illfort

Asen watched the girl dress and shrugged. If she wanted to freeze that was her idea. He’d come across a few people who thought they knew the desert. He usually came across their bones a few weeks later. He wasn’t afraid of her, but neither did he want to find her filled with scorpions later. He cleared his throat.

“So eh, instead of wandering’ bout, how’s it we drop you at a town eh?” Asen asked. “Not just the weather round here. Slavers check these oasis. Now even if ya got some secret up your sleeve...they don’t give up. Just poison the oasis’n wait till you’re sunmad.”

She smiled softly as she looked to him quietly and nodded. "I do not really know this area well, or what towns are around. But if you don't mind me tagging along, I would be happy to. Who knows... maybe I can help protect you with the secrets up my sleeve." She laughed softly "But will Walborga appreciate me tagging along. I dont think she cares much for me."

She walked quietly to them as she ran her fingers through her hair. She held her bag close as she looked to the Griffin again with a smile before looking to Asen Illfort. She sat down quietly by the shore as he finished washing himself up, still in the water. She reached into her bag, taking a few berries out and popping them into her mouth.

Asen went to wring the water out of his drying clothes, and pulled his damp shirt over his head. Huh, it had changed a few shades lighter. He needed to do laundry more often. He tugged his pants up his hips and shook out his boots, scaring a few of the aforementioned scorpions out onto the sands. He tugged them on and looked at Walborga.

“Well we ain’t walkin’. Wally love, would ya mind..?”

Carrying two? Walborga glared at the girl. But she supposed if they were dropping her off at a town, she could tolerate her for a little while. Fine. But you owe me. She sniffed. Asen rubbed her ears.

“Right, looks like we’re flyin. So what you’ll do is you’re gonna lay flat on Wally, yeah? I can hover right above ya on my elbows and knees. Ain’t gonna be comfortable but it’s better’n walkin’.” Asen said.

“Well we ain’t walkin’. Wally love, would ya mind..?”

Seph looked from Asen to the Walborga quietly, saying nothing. She bit the inside of her lip, waiting patiently to know the plan.

Carrying two? Fine. But you owe me.

Seph tilted her head slightly, listening to the instructions he gave her. She nodded lightly as she stepped towards Walborga slowly, cautious of the griffin getting mad for something or other and striking out. She knew the beast didn't care for her, but she'd agreed per her master's request to allow this, so Seph would do her best to trust it would be ok.

"So... just pull myself onto her, on my stomach...?"
