Completed Do the stars look back when we gaze at them?

Amailia look up slack jawed as she stared in awe, her eyes sparkling in wonder. It was true the stars seemed to be shooting across the sky. She had been told that such things are not all that rare and happen from time to time, but she had never seen it herself before.

As she sat here her head darted around the sky trying to take it all in so she wouldn't miss a single star. Wondering aloud she asked,

"What causes the stars to move like that?"

Without taking her eyes off the heavens for a moment.

His warm brown eyes gazed up, reflecting the light of passing-by stars.
He was half tempted to ask her for an explenation.
How many would just go by this month of seagrass, when the grasses grow tall and ready themselves to bloom. when the fynbos turns bright from all it's colours?
Yes, such beauty is started by the shimmer in the sky.
»The Azrail swoop from the outer domain in their glimmering light, dropping seeds and new life to the grasslands of the Seret.«

In those passing moments nothing on Arethil seemed to matter, nor really seemed to reach her. No worries, fears, doubts, not even her anger nor pain. She simply existed, and so did the night, and in that night sky is where she currently resided. What still existed on the ground beside The Swallow was merely an empty cage where she would eventually have to return, but until then the light of the wonders she was allowed to see on her brief escape shone through the bars of that cage.

Her eyes were grey like those who walked Arethil before her, bearing no real colour, but in these precious moments they shone with life and excitement. It has been said that eyes are the window to one's soul, and here in this night a young girls soul was laid bare before no one, but the stars, for the stars can not hurt her, and none could raise any defence against such a foe lest they risk missing its majesty.

The stars passed, leaving behind long trails of white and gold.
Like a herd of celestial beasts, they passed one by one in a group across the sky.

But nothing would ever last forever. Things were in perpetual change of motion.
The White Swallow remained quiet, his heart sinking as if he were exposed to the judgement of the whole world.

This was just a brief distraction.
It felt like a sin to enjoy oneself when so many of your creed out there suffered at the hands of the nonbelievers.
