Completed Dirty Dealings-- Midget Tossing Addition

V

Vengeance

Vengeance sat crouched on the top of a local bakery, the tiled roofs of Alliria spread out before her in a dark wave. Lanterns and candles sat lit in windows or moved with the hands that carried them, creating a twinkle of light inside the dark city. It painted a fair resemblance to the night sky above them-- a sight that had captured poets before.

But not Vengeance. She leaned forward carefully, her head tilting down at the man sitting at a tavern window across the street. "I could toss you through and you could slash him," she said to the halfling besides her.

Utterly unnecessary tactic? Yes. But did she always offer it to him anyway? ...Yes.

It was unclear whether or not she was okay with this man as her assigned partner for this hit. At the very least, she was professional about.

What-- the throwing suggestion was business.

The little man beside her was fidgeting with something, a small brass lock that was simply constructed. Nimble hands fiddled with the thing, turning it over and examining the edges as he found a tiny hole on the bottom of it. A brow arched as he burrowed in a pocket before producing a thin steel rod and poking it through. The effort was rewarded as the lock ring sprang free, a small frown appearing on his face in disappointment as he put it back together and put it all away.

His current partners words made him blink, the thought of being tossed through the air was a little exciting he had to admit. Also terrifying given that he did not have a lot of faith that the woman could pull off such a feat. At least not accurately. They were assassins, not bakers or millers that tossed flour bags casually all day long.

"You ever tossed a kid before?" Johnny hedged, not wanting to start off their assignment with animosity. He'd been warned to play nice given that his last partner had seen fit to gripe about his insistence to be held while he played the role of an adopted child. They had slipped past the guards though without anyone being the wiser. No doubt in thanks to his stellar performance.

He popped a flask out from another pocket, taking a sip of the whiskey it held. He held it for a moment, weighing the tone of his partner before slipping it back into his pocket after capping it. He also leaned forward a bit, taking stock of the scene before him.

"I mean-" pausing midway as he spied the setup again, plotting an escape route before shrugging to her. "It is possible."

"Well. Once." She paused, then added with a grimace. "He was asking for it."

It wasn't as if she was some monster after all. That assumption about their lot was just lazy bollix. Regardless, he was right. She couldn't reliably toss him across the street and through the window. No, that plan wouldn't do. Damn pity though.

She grunted and started scooting backwards on the roof, moving back the way they had slid up in the first place. "Let's just get this over with." Clearly, she had instead opted for a brisk in-out tactic instead. No tact had been requested for this assignment. Just a murder, plain and simple.

Vengeance was never one to fear guard prosecution, they would be long gone before any could be retrieved.

The prospect of being thrown fell away, and he would have been kidding himself if hadn't kept the idea in the back of his mind for later. Her words did not garner anymore thought from him than face value though. It was hard to tell the context of a scenario without having a long drawn out story, and they weren't here for stories.

Someone had paid for a murder. So a murder they would get.

He sighed when she started moving away from the edge and crept back from where they had come up. Ideas flitted in and out, but he wasn't going to speak until they were off the roof. When she was out of the way, he dangled for a second as he cursed his short body before dropping to the ground.

"You want me to make a scene at the bar for you?" He asked quietly, that idea seeming the most solid so far.

Vengeance let him drop without aid, righting her clothing and bringing her hidden daggers back to their proper position against the small of her back.

She looked at him at his question, then frowned and started walking. "Something like that." Across the street and up the porch she went. A slight smile pulled along her lips as the solution dawned on her with no time to spare.

"Alley oop," she declared, abruptly grabbing him and tossing him right through the thin glass panel their mark sat on the other side of. The glass broke beautifully, the crash loud and clamorous as the pieces went scattering across the table and floor.

"That'll do," she concluded, following him in through the door to its right.

"Hhrrraggujd youuusk dontt scare me lad!" A confident well blasted sentence Drog yelled toward the window of the local bar. Drog obviously had been drinking that night and heavy at that. So much so he mistook his reflection as an opponent.

Being of the dwarven bloodline it was often common to have 3 goblets of ale before breakfast was through. Just recently being laid off that same day for quote un quote "being too reckless, for a jewelry shop." He decided to begin drinking early, and so here he stands yelling at himself and wanting to fight.

Drog made a fist and punched forward, as he made contact the glass shattered into a million pieces, unbeknownst to him it was actually the cause of a small halfling flying through, but he didnt notice and with his jaw dropped he looked at his fist as his eyes widened. "I am a...GODDD!!" he yelled at the top of his lungs

The man standing opposite the window, and their target were both occupied as the halfling came to a sudden stop just inside the window. Not wasting the moment, a nearly silent tumble had the little man neatly beneath the table before either looked back to the now broken window.

She had really done it?! He was a bit flabbergasted at the toss, remembering his initial fear of her ability to do it. But it had worked out great for them now. He thought for a moment, skirting around their targets legs as he punched the other man, BerrangisKhan, in the shin. It would feel like the kick of a boot, and the halfling scampered back to the safety near the wall.

Well now he was just having a bar fight! Still, pandemonium erupted in the space. As Vengeance surged through she gave a few men a good few sly jabs, encouraging a new round of yells and flying fists. It only needed a small bit of nudging, it was late into the drinking hour after all.

The target was nonetheless susceptible to the drunken chaos, hollering in displeasure and giving Berrangis a rough shove back for reaching over him and breaking the glass.

Johnny was concerned by the sudden outbreak, but not because of concern for his well being. A regular bar room blitz was something he enjoyed watching. He got a bit jittery, anxious even at the excitement all around him. That usually led to trouble not involving the job he was given.

Hiding under the table would save him from getting tripped on or booted, but if their target decided to leave, he'd have to move through the people anyway.

Crouching against the wall, his legs tightened like springs as he waited for the perfect moment. The target gave a shove to someone, and Johnny popped out of his spot from beneath the table. All the force he could muster went behind the man as he toppled forward, still into the push as he fell on top of the person he had been shoving.

"Aye! What the bloody hell?!" Drog yelled out feeling a sudden kick to his shins. As he realizes what's going on, a man who was in front of him began to push at Drog yelling at home for breaking the window. Drog already drunk and angry from the firing earlier leaned back slightly flexing and yelling into a rage as he grabs the man in front of him. Giving a smirk while saying, "yyooouuuu, youu sir picked the wrong dwarf today lad." As he picks him up by his shirt and tosses him out the now broken window onto the street. Laughing louder with his eyes wide and smiling he jumps out the open pane next to the man. "Its been awhile since I have felt like this lad, thank you for what's about to happen." He says while still laughing mad. Drog picks up the man by his threads and tosses him into the side of the building. "Cmon lad er should I say lass? Stand up and fight!"

Vengeance stopped short, staring in disbelief as their mark got thrown out the very window she had just tossed her partner through to kill him to begin with!

She cursed and shoved back towards the door, fighting against the waves of bodies she had goaded into fighting on the way in. But not everyone had submitted to a fight-- others kept their wits about them or otherwise just couldn't be bothered. A handful of others pushed for the very same door she was aiming towards, causing a slight blockade in all the chaos.

She turned in place, looking back towards the window and then the table the shrimp was crawling out from under. It was much easier to reach him. She pulled him up to his feet, eyeing the fight from beyond the window.

The pinned man swung out and kicked up at Berrangis, cursing up an unintelligible storm. His nails dug fiercely at the hands that held him.

"Bloody hell, I hate the wild cards," Vengeance murmured to Johnny.

Hands pulled him from beneath the table and his hands went for the knife he had hidden before noticing it was the other assassin. The room was a mix of spectators and brawlers at this point. Some jeering and trying to get the fighting to a maddening level while others tried to leave.

Just like they would be trying to. A wicked little smirk appeared as she spoke, and an idea popped into his head.

"Wild cards always make the play more fun though." He chuckled to her before his demeanor shifted. The little man clung to her suddenly, hands pulling at the hem of her shirt. His voice changed as he spoke loud enough for the tables around them to hear.

"I wanna go home!" he whined, his voice childlike as his eyes wandered over the people that looked at them. "Everyone's fighting sis! I wanna go home!"

Grey was unhappy. To be fair he'd been unhappy for a long time. He wanted to understand why. Why? Why had he been forced to spend his younger years toiling in the fields. Why both his back and front were covered with the scars of dissapointment. Not of his making, not even of those he deserved but of those he'd worked for. He knew, even as he hated them, that the people of his tiny village didn't hate themselves they hated their lives. In truth Grey couldn't hate them for that... maybe SHOULDN'T was more accurate because he did hate them. Grey had never known either mother or father. In fact all he knew of them was that they lived where he'd grown up. He knew nothing of them save one thing. His flute.
For years it'd hung round his neck. Grey had often wondered why no one had stolen it from him. After all it was made of silver, it was magical still no one had ever tried to take it. Truth to tell when they saw it as it slipped from under his shirt they averted their eyes. After all the years of servitude there came a day that he decided to leave. He called them all to the square in the center of town and told them goodbye. At first a few approached him, cursing. Grey looked them in the eye and clutched his flute holding it high before him. The looks of hate actually made him happy. The happiest he'd been for years! He raised it high for all to see and then, eyeing them all he put flute to lips and began to play. They scattered then. As roaches in the light and for the first time he knew. He knew his power. He took from them all whatever he wanted. A horse. Supplies. Then he took from himself his innocence. Astride his horse he lifted his flute to his lips and he played. Grey took vengence and his innocence was well and truly lost that day. He looked at what he'd done without regret. All the love in his heart was gone that day.
He kicked his horse in the sides and they were off. A new day lay before him. So many things that could be, that he could be...
So many things had conspired to bring the young mage here. He tied his horse to the post outside. When... "Oh. This is freaking perfect!" He clutched the flute holding it close to his mouth just in case. "Is it too much to ask for a simple gods damned drink???"

Utter displeasure erupted across her features, her lips thinning to a small line as she was clung to.

"Make that two kids," she replied cryptically. It was the only warning he had before she picked him up. And tossed him again. The midget went flying back through the window, which was seeing more in an out action then she was tonight that was for sure. She went out after him, boots crunching on glass as she resisted the urge to roll across the ground.

They weren't necessarily suppose to be drawing attention to themselves, either. You know. Besides the attention one would get from murdering someone. If they could even end up reaching him.

She straightened from the windowsill, looking dead at Berrangis as he held their mark pinned.

"Hey. Let him go."

He hadn't been paying attention to her when she replied to him. He could hear the annoyance in her voice, but he was busy selling the act of a scared kid when she picked him up and tossed him once more. Again, she had tossed him. And this time, completely unable to catch himself as he rolled off the sill and spilled out into the street.

"Bloody feckin 'ell!" He yelped as he rolled over and righted himself. He favored his back for a second, giving a solid twist back and forth to alleviate the blossoming pain he felt in his side. He glared up at her a moment.

"Next time we'll nick the tossing. You're getting a little too fond of that trick." He muttered as he watched the brawl before him. He took a solid step away from his company just in case she decided to try her luck once more as he frowned.

"Wanna take bets and let 'em duke it out?" Johnny offered with a snicker.

(We're not gonna wait longer, feel free to write yourself back in if you want)

"And you're too fond of acting like a child-- what, you got abandonment issues or something?" Vengeance hissed back. His grabbed at her, he'd be tossed. It was decided, let that teach him a lesson or two. She shoved her hair out of her face, brushing glass off her pants as she watched the small brawl.

"No. Just nab him we'll go." The conclusion was made even as she reached for the man pinning their mark down. She yanked with surprising strength at his shoulder, breaking the hold and opening up room for Johnny to have access to the mark as Vengeance tried to shove Berrangis back.

"No, surprisingly. Lot of people don't like being responsible for kids. Easier to get away and less alibi to build. Who expects a kid to know a lot?" Johnny replied to her. "I mean, you gonna pick up a kid and try to convince 'im to give you his life story or hope someone else does?"

He didn't wait for a reply as she picked the brawler off their mark. Johnny swooped in, dragging their man by his leg away from the other brawler.

"You can thank us by following along. 'Less you want this fella followin' and taking another swing at you?" Johnny offered as he stopped dragging the man and waited for him to stand.

(My apologies life got slightly busy past week hah)

Drog blinded by rage did not notice his body pulled from the man he was fighting, until he fell back and hit his head on the stone. After a few dazey seconds he slowly sat up groaning slightly as we watched a young lad and las pulling the gentleman away.
"Wh..what are they..oooo my bloody head, note to self dont drink before 8am next time." He slowly gets up brushing himself off, "hm, something doesn't seem right, I should follow them." He sets off keeping somewhat clear of their view as he followed behind..

"I'm going to pick up the kid and chuck him through the window if any of those grubby hands go for me again." She didn't need to raise her tone to express her displeasure. The venom sat thick in each word, a reminder that she could kill with just the flick of her hand.

She had the mark's other leg and was helping drag him away, down the steps and to an alleyway where they could release him and catch a moment's peace.

She gave him a solid punch to the face to keep him down, the action leaving blood on both parties. Vengeance shook out her hand, turning to glower over the midget. "There's nothing to say you didn't accidentally get sliced in the gut too while out here, cut your crap."

The night sky glistening with stars and a full moon lit the streets with a backlit glow over the street lanterns.
Moving along the edge of the buildings staying to the ever often shadows Drog stops and notices they turn down what appeared to be an alley way.
"Hmm..what are these 2 up to?" He quietly asks himself.
He continues to the edge of the alley and slowly crouches while peaking around the corner. Dwarves were known to be loud obnoxious folk who you could tell from a mile away. However with the experience working in a fine jewelry shop Drog learned to be light on his feet when needed to. As he peaked he noticed the woman shaking her fist with some blood flinging off, and her snapping at the short lad next to her. Feeling he didn't have much time left he slowly got up and turned the corner towards them. With his hands up to show no foul intent he slowly approached the 3.
"Its to much of a nice night to be hanging in the alley dont'cha think?" He walked up closer.
"Now pardon the intrusion, but what is it you 2 were thinking of doing with this lad here? I mean no harm, but seeing as I got forcefully taken off of him, which if i may add, was pretty impressive seeing that type of strength. Not many folk can make an enraged dwarf move like that. But anywho, as I was saying, after being thrown off i couldn't help but notice you 2 dragging this fool, and figured I would investigate."

Johnny was not about to stoke the temper of his companion, and he wasn't terribly pleased the man was attempting to do do either. He bit back his own words, watching her land a solid punch to the man's face before the one from earlier popped into their alley.

He had to take a moment to both applaud and curse the man for following them here. His mental pause visible as he looked to Vengeance.

"I'll give you this one on the wild card. They don't tend to stick their noses where they don't belong often." He spat looking to the dwarf. Poor luck or just poor judgement on this one's part.

"No need to investigate any further. We are having a word with him. A private word about business." He offered, hoping the man would back off.

Vengeance didn't have much more to add to that than a supportive glare, her teeth briefly bared at Berrangis in a wordless demand to shove it. Mind his own business.

She struggled with the man under her for a moment, but his drunk ass was good and sore and her two fisted grip on his shirt was enough to keep him pinned as she dragged him up the wall. She wasn't just about to wait for the stranger to bugger off-- clearly these were dangerous circumstances and most normal folk new well enough to scram.

"C'mon," she growled at her companion, yanking at the marks shirt and sending him stumbling further down the alleyway with them.

"N-No-no, what are you- please!" The man uttered in drunken disorientation.

His attention moves from the short lad to the fem, and notices her toss him further.
"Now now, is that any way to treat a man? What is it he even did to get messed around with like this? I mean a drunken bar fight always happens around here."
He turns his head slightly to the side in remembrance and moves his hand patting his pocket
"Wait lass, what is it you are after? Money? Expensive jewelry by chance.."
He asked with an inviting tone

He gave a heaving sigh at the dwarfs attempt to peel their attention away from their target. Stubborn were dwarves, especially stubborn were drunk ones.

"If I throw a bit of coin your way, would you bugger off?" Johnny kept his irritation to a minimum, but if the fellow didn't back off soon, they would have two marks tonight.
