Romas Mizov is a cowardly thief currently living in The Outer City of Alliria. While he does whatever is possible to avoid a fight, he sometimes wields his shortbow, padded armor, and pair of scimitars to defend himself as needed.

Appearance

Despite being nothing more than a petty thief, Romas takes pride in his appearance. His dark brown hair is clearly brushed frequently and he keeps his short beard evenly trimmed. His lips seem constantly turned slightly upwards into a smug grin. His body is thin and he has a minimal amount of muscles, making it clear to most people looking at him that he wouldn't be able to hold his own in a physical fight.

Skills and Abilities

- Fighting (1/5, Beginner): Romas has no experience with fighting and is about as competent both in melee and at range as any average person.

- Sleight of Hand (3/5, Intermediate): Romas has lived as a pickpocket for years. While he likely wouldn't be able to steal from seasoned adventurers, he can easily slip coin purses off most normal folk within a city.

- Deception (3/5, Intermediate): Romas isn't a professional diplomat, nor is he a seasoned charlatan, but he is good at getting people who don't know his true nature to trust him and he can use a combination of apologies, flattery, and empty promises to get out of some troublesome situations.

- Stealth (2/5, Capable): Romas is a competent thief and can sneak into simple places he shouldn't be in, but he usually prefers to pickpocket people on the streets with his sleight of hand.

Personality

Romas is a coward and a pacifist. Having never been in a fight in his life and lacking any notable body strength, he would likely struggle to beat even the average peasant. Knowing this, he will do and say anything he can to avoid getting into combat. However, not only does he find the idea of getting hurt upsetting, but he also hates the idea of hurting anyone else and would rather give up than attack someone to get what he wants. In a conversation, he is incredibly friendly and tries to make everyone like him, which might make him come across as fake or even manipulative to other people even though his desire to be respected is genuine. He typically goes along with whatever everyone around him is doing, but he is always watching for signs of trouble and thinking of exit plans to weasel his way out of any possible bad situation.

Biography & Lore

Romas was born in the Areck Slums of Alliria to parents who were struggling to make ends meet. As a child, he felt bitter and jealous of all the wealth and opportunities flowing into the city, but quickly began looking for opportunities of his own and developed an appetite for pickpocketing and other forms of thievery. He has been very selective with his targets so far and was hopeful to make enough money to afford a house in The Outer City. He justifies this to himself by thinking that the sorts of people he steals from wouldn't miss the amount of money stolen, though he can't be certain how true this actually is. When his family found out that he was stealing and planning on using the money to buy them a home, they were both afraid of what could happen to him if he was caught and disappointed that they raised a thief, leading them to turn him away whenever he showed up.

Recently, Romas has considered alternative ventures, such as becoming more of a charlatan or cat burglar. He also has been looking into taking odd jobs that might be more legal than his normal work, such as working with groups who would require a decently stealthy or dexterous individual.

Romas is a wholly conflict averse person and will run at the first potential trouble. When he is not committing acts of thievery, his personality is as warm and friendly as possible in an effort to avoid giving people any reason to dislike him or suspect him of being shady. While he sometimes carries scimitars or a shortbow with him, he has never had to use them and is no more skilled as a fighter than the average peasant. If forced into a fight, he would surely prefer to stay at range with his shortbow, but even then he would take the first opportunity presented to flee.
