Left as a child upon the doorstep of Esther Lyre Dark’s home, a mysterious and powerful forest-dwelling witch on the outskirts of Vel Anir, Alessandra was seemingly abandoned into the care of fate itself. Being childless, and growing older in age, Esther saw the surrendered child as a blessing and graciously took her in to love and raise the girl as her own. And although the child showed no signs of magical inclination, Esther Dark did not seem to mind in the least. She loved her adopted daughter well and raised her in a warm and nurturing environment.

Alessandra was a spirited child. And with her arrival, the witch’s home was filled with laughter and light. A curious creature by nature, Alessandra attempted to learn her mother’s craft, but without a natural talent for magic, she quickly grew frustrated and abandoned her pursuits. However, she thrived as a naturalist and had a knack for memorizing the names of plants, their uses, and how to mix them in order to create brand new and very potent concoctions. Since she could not perform magic, she created magic by learning a more traditional form of medicine. This is a passion that has defined her through her childhood and teenage years.

Often, her obsession with the acquisition of new specimens has nearly claimed her life. Along with passion and determination, Alessandra can also often flirt with recklessness in her attempt to seek and find the object of her desires. However, her tonics and elixirs have quickly grown in popularity for they are powerful and effective.

But her stalking for perfection is just a thin veil for the truth. Alessandra is desperate to find out where she comes from. There is a pit at the very core of her being that no amount of self-fulfillment will ever satisfy. In the end, she is a desperately wounded child, withering in her own anxiety, and constantly asking herself why she was abandoned -- why she wasn’t worth keeping.
