Lintai Suule of the Cardinals
Mercenary swordswoman seeking glory and knowledge
Appearance
Lintai stands tall and lean, honed by years of travel and training. She ties her tangled, dark oak hair back with any scrap of cloth at hand. Her sharp grey eyes, ever watchful, scan her surroundings. Old burn scars on her forearms mark where her first ward spells failed.
She dresses in practical leather and mail. The Cardinals’ red-threaded pauldron sits on her left shoulder. A slim, well-kept longsword rests at her side. When she casts wards, geometric patterns shimmer on her skin. Her magic is still developing, and it shows.

Personality
Lintai tends to be quiet after years as the 'new girl' in various mercenary groups. She only speaks up when it counts, listens more than she talks, and stays neutral until she trusts someone. Underneath, she is stubborn and determined. She wants to protect her group, prove herself as a ward mage, and finally find a place to belong. Once she feels at home, she fiercely defends her group.
Biography & Lore
Lintai Suule was born to caravan guards who travelled the frontier routes, making ends meet just about. Her childhood ended at nine when Bandits attacked and destroyed the caravan they travelled in. She remembered fire, screams, and her mother selflessly pushing her under a fallen cart. Small and shaking, she hid there until a mercenary band found her and pulled her from the wreckage. Nothing was ever the same after that.
Over the next fifteen years, Lintai moved from one company to another. Some treated her kindly, others were harsh. Most just ignored her. She learned to sharpen blades before she could read and to form ranks before she knew her letters. She felt fear before she understood what it meant to belong. Each group taught her something new: sword drills, how to stay alert in battle, and the habit of keeping her pack half-packed so she could leave at a moment’s notice.
Her magic first showed itself when she was sixteen. In a desperate moment, she cast a ward to block an arrow. She saved a comrade, though the magic was raw and hard to control, dangerous even. Since then, she has struggled to master it, training with any mage willing to teach her. A few were willing to teach a half-feral mage as time went by.
Eventually, she joined The Cardinals, a mid-sized mercenary company known for professionalism and discipline. To her surprise, they gave her something she had never had before: stability. A mentor there recognised her potential as a ward mage, and with proper training, she had begun to control her magic better.
She still remembers her past. For the first time, she wanted to build a future. She hoped to master her magic, protect those around her, and prove she deserved a place with them. Now, she moves forward instead of just running away.
