Kyra Korsem is a selfish bandit currently operating alone in the Outer City of Belgrath. She specifically chose to wield a large greatsword in order to better intimidate lone travelers into handing over their valuables. In case a fight breaks out, she wears scale mail to protect herself and has a longbow for distant encounters.

Appearance

As a lone bandit struggling to make ends meet, Kyra is rather lanky and scrawny, though this isn't always obvious given the bulky scale mail she usually keeps equipped. Her dark brown hair is always unkempt, and the dark eyes on her normally dirty face are permanently narrowed as if she's constantly scanning for threats. Although she spends most of her time within the mountains, her complexion signals her family's roots to a land far from her current home in Belgrath.

Skills and Abilities

- Fighting (2/5, Capable): Although she avoids fights when possible, Kyra knows how to use her weapons to defend herself. However, she has less experience in combat than the average bandit.

- Survival (3/5, Intermediate): Kyra has lived alone for most of her life in the dilapidated Outer City of Belgrath and has survived for long periods of time without seeing other people. Although she lacks experience in other environments, she is no stranger to living in tough conditions.

- Intimidation (2/5, Capable): As a bandit, Kyra makes enough money to buy what she needs by mugging lone travelers. However, the fact that she sneaks up on people and surprises them with her wicked looking greatsword is the main reason she can routinely pull this off.

- Stealth (2/5, Capable): Kyra is capable of stalking unaware travelers for long distances before ambushing them in their sleep, but she is very selective with her targets and picks people who don't look like seasoned adventurers.

Personality

Having chosen the life of a solitary bandit at a young age, nearly everything Kyra does is in her own best interests. Although she has no problem with threatening people to mug them or otherwise get what she wants, she has so far refused to kill anyone mostly because she doesn't want to be the reason others have had their families taken from them. With that being said, she also will not risk her life to save another person's life and is one of the first to run when trouble starts brewing. While she justifies her selfishness and cowardice to herself as necessary for survival, she struggles with shame and regret more each day. This combined with a life mostly lived in solitude and a desire to keep her life as a bandit secret makes her quiet and reserved in conversations, especially when talking to people she thinks have a good heart.

Biography & Lore

Born in the Middle City of Belgrath, Kyra's parents were struggling merchants. One day when she was almost an adult, her parents went missing while traveling through Belgrath's Outer City. While there is no solid evidence of what happened to them, Kyra is all but certain the brigands living there killed them. Unsure of how to care for herself, she was inspired by the brigands and convinced herself the only way to survive was to turn to crime. She started with petty thievery but eventually began mugging lone travelers, though she has made a point so far to not kill anyone in order to avoid destroying any families the way hers was.

Kyra has been living as a bandit for a few years but recently began searching for other jobs, being limited in her potential targets due to operating alone. While a better fighter than the average peasant, she lacks formal training which is reflected in the clumsy way she swings her greatsword. She has never been in a large-scale battle and would likely want to stay back with her longbow to avoid the seemingly more dangerous melee combat.

Kyra has learned she can only be loyal to herself in order to survive in Belgrath's Outer City. She will always choose her own well-being over a stranger’s and has no qualms with leaving them to save herself, so she struggles to understand heroic adventurers who risk their lives for civilians. She's also not above using some violence to get what she wants, but she is unsettled by the thought of killing anyone, especially if they are not fighting back.
