Gal "Skycatcher" Borrage is a skilled archer who puts her great strength to use in wielding an abnormally large, heavy bow from which she can shoot exceptionally large ammo; typically harpoons.

She can be intimidating at times, but is a well-meaning, optimistic individual.

Appearance

Gal is a burly, tall orc woman that radiates strength and confidence. She has very thick, pronounced tusks and her green skin is absolutely covered in small scars. None of her injuries seem to have been very damaging and no scar sticks out moreso from the rest. She looks like she can crush raw potatoes with her bicep, and probably would if asked.

She has gauged ears. In one is usually a thick tooth from some slain beast, but otherwise her earrings can vary greatly. They're never anything too expensive looking, but many of them are beautiful. Often quills, intricately painted wood/ivory/brass, etc. She sometimes has painted skin, typically around the eyes and in dark colors that help with the glare of the sun. She will also paint the skin on her arms, collarbone, and back.

Her hair is long and raven black. Every morning, she braids her hair, but the braids and general look can really vary. One big braid over one shoulder is a favorite of hers, especially if she has a lot to do that day.

Her clothing can vary exceptionally. On jobs, she often chooses muted colors and simple clothes. Often furs and leather where appropriate. However, on her free days, she tends to actually wear more feminine clothes with nice designs. Skirts or really pretty furs, etc. She always wears thick hide boots that have strung around them old arrowheads on a simple, small chain. Her stride has a jingle to it when she walks.

Unusually for an orc, her eyes are bright blue. She insists her grandmother made them that way.

Skills and Abilities

+SKILLED ARCHER, EXCEPTIONALLY STRONG
Gal's weapon of choice is the bow and arrow. While she's comfortable with any bow, she favors large ones that were likely meant for giants or half-giants. She likes the option of heavy, large arrows that are ostensibly harpoons. She does have ammo with a line attached in order to anchor her target or otherwise control where they go (or get dragged forcibly) next. With the strength to wield very powerful bows, Gal's battle preference begins with a sniper's approach.

+ADEPT BOXER, -POOR SWORDSMAN
At close range, she tends to prefer her fists, a rope, or just reflexively hitting people with her bow (and potentially breaking the bow in the process). She doesn't like using swords, and doesn't carry them around. She doesn't like fighting with her big arrows either. Getting close to her in a fight means you'll more likely be punched than stabbed, but she's not bad at boxing in spite of her favoring far-ranged weaponry.

+SKILLED TRACKER, SKILLED NAVIGATOR
Coming from a nomadic clan, Gal feels very at home in nature. She is a great animal tracker, and can navigate plains with no landmarks by the celestial bodies alone. That all said, she's used to open terrain, and finds thick forests to be claustrophobic.

+RITUAL MAGIC KNOWLEDGE
Gal does not know how to form magic in an instant. Her upbringing involved ritualistic magic; slow magic, with reagents and often times teamwork. Given time, and some help, she can draw out and summon forth magic spells. However, the spells she knows are ones relevant to her upbringing; spells useful to nomadic orcs living off the land.

-DUMB AS ROCKS
Learning magic at all likely took frequent practice in her family. In any other way, Gal is not the sharpest thorn on the flower. She can be pretty gullible too.

Personality

At first glance, Gal comes across as a pretty serious orc. Confident and smiling, but not to be messed with. She can have a piercing glare, and doesn't think hard about the consequences of her words. She says what she thinks.

This is a reflex and cover of hers she's learned through the years. It helps her feel safe with herself. In reality, she can be quite co-dependent and anxious. She becomes fretful by herself, or with new company, and puts up this guard instinctively. Regardless of true or false personas, Gal is well-meaning. She's kind, optimistic, and likes to have fun. She likes to believe there's good in everyone and is very willing to trust people (even if she's inwardly timid doing so).

Gal, while certainly muscular, is also feminine. She likes flowers and pretty colors. She likes to take care of her hair and can enjoy a very nice outfit. She finds the most joy in the small and simple things.

Biography & Lore

Gal was born into the nomadic orc clan of the Goldwalkers. The name often makes outsiders think that the clan came from raiders, and is a generational band of hooligans. The name actually comes from their primary territory among the steppes where the grass is often golden colored. The Goldwalkers often live in the open and are a resourceful, patient people.

Gal was one in a big family. In spite of that, her family has always been loving and attentive to all their members. Gal has a lot of fond memories with her siblings and her grandmother, Omak, who has since passed away. While Gal has ventured away from her family, she still loves them dearly, and is eager to return to them again.

Occasionally, members of the clan will break out on their own. It's considered part of being a teenager to leave for a while, experience independence and culture elsewhere, and then return with new perspective. When Gal was a teenager, she experienced the ceremony to venture out, but then didn't. A series of unfortunate events within the family kept her from going, and after a few months, the idea was simply forgotten. Gal met adulthood simply taking care of the rest of her family and following what anyone else said, taking their opinions and perspective as superior.

It's only recently that Gal ventured away from her family, finally. Encouraged by a few of her siblings, she headed out on her own.
