"Davi is the perfect example of the types of "magic" that the new colonies are going to offer us. It disgusts me to even be teaching him! His 'gifts' - if they can be called such - remind of the wicked things the Knife Ears are able to do. There is nothing powerful or strong about changing ones appearance. It, to me, is cowardly. Sneaky. Exactly the kind of magic lesser races stoop to using.

I've tried my best with the boy to teach him how to stay away from the temptation of using it in the manner of the elves and turning himself into unnatural beasts. I give him over to you to teach the artistry of your spy mastery. Perhaps he will be of better use to you than he is to me on the battlefield.

Perhaps we should have just let the new colony burn if this is the gift it gives us."

-- Proctor Remus in a letter to Spymaster Xavien

Appearance

Gaunt in the way most Dreadlord children are when they reach their teenage years after a decade of starvation and gruelling training, Davi has at least got his more golden complexion going for him in comparison to the other children at the academy. Over the last few months with the change of regime however, Davi has been able to add weight and begun to bulk out. Rather than lank and wiry he could now be described as looking something more than a feral weasel. With raven black hair and blue eyes he might be handsome if not for the permanent sulky or scowling expression he wears.

Skills and Abilities

Dreadlord In Training: Dreadlords are taken from a young age and indoctrinated into the famous and feared Vel'Anir Academy. Within these walls they are broken down to nothing and rebuilt into the perfect soldiers. Trained in the art of war they live, sleep and breathe the battlefield and its many brutal ways. Davi has learnt many skills even wizened old veterans don't have, but this final year will teach him other skills the past 10 years have never touched upon.

Shapeshifting: Frowned upon for being a gift more suited to elves, Davi possesses the ability to change his form. This can be into animals - as was common when he was very young - but also into humans. His mastery of his gift means he is able to copy a persons appearance and voice down to every single little strand of hair. On a battlefield this latter use of his gift makes him weak in the eyes of many other students, especially as he is strongly discouraged from using his abilities to turn into anything else.

Personality

Bullied from a young age by Proctors and Students alike, Davi has learnt to be ashamed of the one thing most Dreadlords can be arrogant about: his powers. As such he is a quiet boy he keeps to himself as much as is permitted and goes out of his way to avoid people. Some might mistake him for a mute for how little he speaks but when he does it can often be with a pronounced bit of wisdom beyond his years.

There is a quiet rage that lives inside this young boy that hasn't had an outlet. As such his temper is exceptionally thin and he could even be described as cruel when he finally finds a person beneath him to take his frustrations out on.

Biography & Lore

Davi was at the older end of the scale for children who were taken from his parents and as such he still has quiet vivid memories of them and his life back home. He was taken by Dreadlords shortly after his home fell to Vel'Anir in a great war during which he lost his father. His mother, desperate for the money offered for magical children, gave him away to the Proctors who were collecting potential new students from their latest colony.

His life was harder than mosts at the Academy for the simple reason his magic disgusted most of his tutors. Able to shift into any form he wanted he was considered to be little better than a werewolf or elf. He was forced to stunt his own gifts and concentrate on their ability to transform him into other humans. This was still not impressive to most proctors and he was given over to a specialist in spy mastery to train with him.

When the revolution broke out Davi was quietly relieved he would not be forced to spend his life with the cruel man who had become his mentor. Instead he was turned back towards the Academy and encouraged to begin exploring the part of his magic that was always taboo.
