Zahar
Appearance
Zahar comes from the blood of elves, though his people have lived underground for centuries, born and raised in the dark, that their hairless and colorless forms scarcely resemble that of their forest dwelling cousins save pointed ears. Zahar's recessed nose and large, violet eyes unsettle most beholders.
Skills and Abilities
- Adaptions from centuries of living in the darkness, along with magical mutations, have left Zahar and his kind with superior vision in darkness. He can see through the deepest shadows as though in broad daylight, but bright light is painful to his eyes and he suffers from poor perception when beneath a noonday sun. Through his sorcery, Zahar can even see through darkness created by magic.
- A warlock of some skill, Zahar conjures spectral blades of midnight with which to fight, often choosing the form of a spear.
- When in areas of dim light or darkness, Zahar can wrap the shadows around himself at will to become invisible. He can also cloak himself in caliginous magics that provides a shield, albeit breakable, against physical harm.
- At the snap of his fingers, Zahar can conjure a penumbra of darkness that seems to seep up from the very ground and envelope an area of land many feet across. Nonmagical light does not illuminate this conjured shadow, nor can creatures with innate night vision see through it.
- Zahar can hurl beams of destructive energy repeatedly. Yet his other powers, such as causing a breastplate to shatter, inducing panicked fear in his enemies, and sapping the life force from a foe, sap his well of reserves and he can only cast so many such spells before that well runs dry.
Personality
Possessing a dry, acidic wit, Zahar has little patience for foolishness. But somehow, he often finds himself in the most ridiculous of situations in service to his master, the Great One.
