A singular example of Black Bay producing something other than pure slavery from their ranks, Zafrila enjoys the less than honorable things in life. Her father Lothlin is a fairly influential slaver among those that call the Black Bay their home. Zafrila herself being the product of an owner and their property, she has a goal in her mind to work for to secure her freedom with her father.

Appearance

Standing tall and lithe, Zafrila is the product indulgence of her mother's contract holder. Her left eye is covered, hiding a wound inflicted by her father during her rebellious phase. Managing to keep her hair long despite attempts by those around her to cut the only item of pride she has to her name.

She maintains a herself despite the shortage of supplies, working about various vessels that come to the bay, and the occasional bar fight. She is a scrappy fighter, preferring the use of her fists or her hollow-hammer filled with iron sand.

Skills and Abilities

Heavy Handed - While not as skilled as those who have dedicated their life to the art, one does not need a great amount of skill to swing their fists or a heavy hammer.
Bar Room Fighter - There is nothing graceful or poetic about Zafrila's fighting. Learning to maximize her damage output with strange and unplanned attacks.
Magic - Based in the element of Fire, she can focus the skill into either her own physical body, or through limited motes of Fire.
Ships - Competent with the repair and maintenance of seafaring vessels, she is a boon to have aboard most any vessel.

Personality

At times whimsical, and at others deathly serious, Zafrila goes between what is most advantageous for her work. Especially if it would put her closer to being out from under the slave contract with her father.

None are above being price gouged, and no one receives a discount when Zafrila is making deals. Long time customers of the shop she now manages know her for the reliable work she produces, but also know she is one of the meanest tradesmen around. Undercut her by using another shop, and she'll up her price the next time you visit. Remain a loyal customer, and you might get a priority spot in line depending on the job.

Cutting and concise when making a business deal, she has little patience for the back and forth of haggling. None have found any sort of softness to the woman yet.

Biography & Lore

Being born of her mother Miatris, and her father Lothlin, she was nothing more than an unfortunate creation. Lothlin did little to ensure his offspring was capable of anything beside owing her existence to him. Being raised by her slave mother, she was witness to the mistreatment to those of the lowest social status within the Black Bay, and even as a young child resolved to be something more than her mother and the people around them.

Whether seeing this idea bloom in her daughter, or wishing better for her only offspring, Miatris steeled her own heart for the day she was abandoned by the only thing she had loved in the forsaken place she was forced to call home. Giving her all to raise the child she was made to carry, Miatris scraped and fought with others of her station to feed and assist the child as best she was able.

The one blessing Zafrila had to her name in the Black Bay was the lack of sharpened points to her ears, able to pass for a human readily without bodily mutilation. The most base of blessings that Miatris both lauded and loathed.

Zaf meanwhile did whatever she could to grasp at whatever could raise her above the status of slave as her father had so easily done. Stealing time with those willing to teach the child to read and do numbers, to watching the tradesmen work to repair the boats that supplied the life blood of the Black Bay. Often being chased away from the ships as she tried to replicate what was being done. After one such incident as a teen, her fathers reprimand had bordered on nearly ending her life as a harsh reminder of her position in life.

A modicum of worry now found her from those that had chased her away, allowing her to visit rather than running her off. The pity and disdain burned in her stomach at those that believed themselves better than her.

But it played into her hand well as she began to understand and work the system to her advantage. Going from little more than a basic laborer in her earliest work, to an apprentice for a craftsmen, to even managing the store at times in his absence. During one incident in the Black Bay, an attempted robbery in the shop secured her a slightly brighter future when she caught a fellow slave attempting to steal for a captain that had wanted his rigging without paying. Breaking their hands with her hammer for the attempt before the shop owner and guards had arrived.

This earned praise from her normally distrusting father along with the craftsmen at the lack of mercy about the matter.
