Appearance

Yama is a tall and fair built woman for one of common birth. Humble beginnings in the fields toned her body from a young age with the naginata she wields to this day. Her hair is kept to shoulder length, more readily tied in a knot below the woven hat she wears so commonly. With her full eyes, pointed ears and height, she easily stands out among her human peers. The scar across her lip was given to her by her own family, in a test of martial ability for becoming eligible as the family leader.

She hides herself behind a very plain mask, as most of her clan’s warriors choose to do as well. She considers herself no better than a commoner now, having lost most of her family to war and having no tangible proof of her once noble bloodline. She rarely dresses up for anything, choosing her warriors clothing for most everything she does.

Skills and Abilities

Naginata - Skilled with the weapon of reach. She tends to stick with the tactic of remaining safely outside of range for most weapons.

Personality

Yama can be rather course, finding that tradition has been the tool others have used to kill or stifle her kin. She will abide by what her lord demands, but her opinion will be known.

She does not seek to put herself above her men, instead pulling her men together with camaraderie rather than promises of riches and rank. As such, she expects not only her men to be forthright, but also to give of themselves as she does.

Biography & Lore

Tsu, as those very dear to her once called her, was the former leader of the Suu~ifutokurēn tori. The entire head of the clan were her relatives, her brother, father, mother, and two uncles before the outbreak of the succession war. The clan had been at relative peace with others, choosing to side with those that bought their allegiance as mercenaries since most of the clan’s strength was made up of human warriors.

This choice led to their downfall ultimately, as the other clans viewed them as a weaker target and picked them apart with tremendous ease. Her uncles fell first, dying in the service of another as was honorable for their family. Her mother and father were next, a deliberate strike against her clans seat in the land. Her brother was the final victims, leaving her alone with the responsibility of heading her band of mercenaries.

She swore allegiance to the Karasu clan after explaining herself and showing the writ of service her uncles had made when escorting her clan leaders to the meeting that had claimed her uncles lives.
