Kenjutsu(剣術, Sword Techniques)- An umbrella term for all five hundred schools of swordsmanship pertaining to this area of the world, of which Tomua is a master of many. Most schools encompasses both the techniques of swordsmanship and at times a more mystical element. Most techniques are simple physical ones that are dependent on little more than the user’s physique. Other techniques will consume more of the users stamina and a short period of complete focus, but have all forms of effects attached of both defensive and offensive nature.

• Hokushin Ittō-ryū(北辰一刀流兵法)- A very intense dueling style, which focuses on simple and fast techniques where no unnecessary movements are made. Controlling the enemy’s center line with the kiri-otoshi and dominating him with extremely fast tsuki-waza are the signature techniques of this ryūha. The principles of this style are that a perfect technique should contain defence and offense in one action.
• Battōjutsu (抜刀術 ;"drawing blade technique")- A field of kenjutsu which deals specifically with the rapid drawing and sheathing of a sword. Battojutsu practices and studies the dynamics of sword drawing and hand eye coordination regarding live action factors of timing, distance, targeting, and the specifics of one's sword, including its size and blade, to strike readily. In most cases, a katana being drawn from its sheath moves with a much greater speed and force than when it is being wielded normally. Additionally, greater drawing speed gives a swordsman more of an advantage in combat than an opponent whose speed is inferior. This is due in part to the fact that a katana's sharp blade curves upward against the inside of the sheath, allowing the swordsman to use more strength in drawing it without having to worry about applying extra control to his movements - the sword's path is guided by the sheath while the blade meets no resistance, moving two to three times faster than normal.
• Iaijutsu(居合術))- A combative sword-drawing art but not necessarily an aggressive art because iaijutsu is also a counterattack-oriented art. Iaijutsu technique may be used aggressively to wage a premeditated surprise attack against an unsuspecting enemy.
• Niten Ichi-ryū (二天一流; "the school of the strategy of two heavens as one")- The technique of utilizing dual swords, in this case the katana and it’s companion sword, the wakizashi. Although, this school also teaches the ability to wield two longswords at once

Fishing- A simple rod with a fishing line is all that is needed in order to achieve a peaceful past time.

Ranged- In his natural state, Touma doesn't really have much ability to directly counter a range fighter effective. At best, he can defend, but will need some effort to close the gap.
Reckless- Having courage does not always equate to self-preservation. As such at times Touma may go against the greatest of odds without much of consideration for himself.

Daishō (大小; "big-little”)- A matching pair of blades worn on Touma’s hip, one larger than the other.

• 赤い刃(Red Blade)- Nicknamed the red blade after it’s alleged history of bloodshed(though legend has it that the weapon once went by a different name), this weapon is a 60 cm katana often utilized by Touma. The blade itself doesn’t exactly appear red(not at first glance) but in itself made up of a fine metal. While the curved edge is sharp, the opposite end is rather dull, allowing the user to use the weapon as blunt weapon should the need arise to incapacitate. It also comes with a wooden sheath, which in of itself can be used in combat. Outside of the basics, the blade seems to hold some form of property that effects magical elements...somthing people have described as if the blade was cutting through a magical thread. Regardless, the blade seems rather effective against magic.
• 虎の歯(Tiger’s Tooth)- The companion sword to the “Red Blade”, this is a smaller 30 cm wakizashi that is also worn at Touma’s hip, although used much less frequently. The blade is made of similar metal as it’s brother. The blade’s purpose depends on the situation, sometimes acting as a complementary to the Red Blade, other times the blade is used as a backup weapon. It is to note that while Touma is willing to give up his katana for long periods of time, his wakizashi stays with him at all times.

Eastern Clothes- Touma wears a light blue kimono with a red jacket and a white hakama, as well as his sheathed katana and wakizashi at the side of his obi.
Fishing Rod- A simple rod with a fishing line and a hook. Also bait, for the fish.

Touma at first glance appears to be rather...intense, even unfriendly to some. Doesn’t help that the fellow doesn’t talk to much, not often joining into a conversation at the start. It is also known that Touma is rather docile to confrontation, even going so far as ignoring or deflecting such advances.

Of course, the book is more than just the cover, and Touma is no different. Underneath the rough exterior is a man who lives off the smiles of others. If by any chance a fellow were to crack Touma’s shell, there is no end to his goofiness, his sincerity, or the amount of care he has with the friendship that no doubt he will go a long way. Those who get to know Touma would know that he’s a man who will be willing to put the world before his own life, as the risk of his life is only negligible compared to the life of others(including his opponents).

To most whom meet him, it is pretty clear he carries in his heart an enormous and grievous guilt. Some may even say it is what prevents him from becoming out right emotionally close to most of the people around him. It is quite unknown, to all but a few, what baggage the man carries with him. It is clear that there is somthing Touma wants, but he himself is holding back from achieving his one true desire. Whatever it is, one can assume that it is what ultimately drives him to a life of humble service and selfless personal sacrifice.

The man’s origins are shrouded in mystery, which means not much at the present is really known about Touma, other than he has traveled from a far off land that could be seen as rather foreign. However, there is no doubt that the Touma is a warrior by trade, given his weapons and his skills sets. It is said that he has faught many opponents and have been many of occasional outnumbered quite badly. Yet it seems this fellow always finds a way to either trumphi or beat a narrow retreat.

Touma calls himself a “Ronin”, a term to some would be synonymous to “mercenary”. While it is true that Touma has been known to work for money, taking on jobs from serving as a guard to collecting a bounty, although he is rather picky about the type of job he’d undertake. Money doesn’t seem to be a big factor in his decision, as it seems that he almost takes some of these jobs out of sheer boredom...although, others may tell you of a nobler spirit, whom would at times even refuse payment for certain jobs. Of course, there have been many whom have tried to take advantage of this aspect, to a much unsatisfying results.
