Viktor Delaroux
Appearance
An uncanny recollection of an elf at a distance. The strength of a human’s jaw upon inspection. He would be otherwise unremarkable, were his build and height solely responsible for his image. Viktor’s posture weaves nonexistent designs of coiled metal and grace. Eyes, the color of archaic amber, have a tendency to move towards his object of intent mere moments before his face follows suit.
Silver hair and light-deprived skin have a way of constantly mirroring the moon, whether or not it is present. Fine cloth, fabricated into clothing with care, dare hint at some manner of flirting with the fine lines of nobility. Yet for all this grace, there is something vexed about the way he occupies any given space. He is never simply where he is: soft boots shepherd feet as they pad impatiently toward where he ought to be.
Skills and Abilities
Bereavement’s Minne: Viktor has inherited the gift of manipulating the dead. While he is able to raise corpses and command spirits through the aggregation of melancholic notes, minor thirds and dirge: his true strength lies within his ability to augment the dead that have already been risen by another party. Aggression, wrought from the pounding accelerandos that could impact even the living, are capable of turning the living dead into whirlwinds of destruction.
The Plague’s Piper: Forlorn trepidation had tainted the basic melodies that were well known to farm hands and serving girls. This dark affinity to something larger than himself became manifest in the wake of the anguish of losing his masters to the fear and violence of men. While this ability may take hours, sometimes days, to coalesce: its tactical advantage is beyond the scope of anything as petty as revenge. Through ritual courtship of the division of time and unnatural melody, the vampire is able to subject a hub of the living to the steady march of vermin and disease.
The Price: The ability to corrupt music into something abhorrent requires a sacrifice to be made to the passage of time. Music is, at its core, the debasing of time into smaller, more palatable fractions: four beats per measure, the quarter note gets the beat. Any instrument that is used as a focus will visibly age and deteriorate in a way that renders repairs unfeasible. If Viktor were to attempt either of his abilities without an instrument to offer in exchange, then his body would - as it has in the past - bear the burden of accelerated aging that even his state of vamperism cannot defend against.
