Cool and distant to affection, diplomatic with praise and advice, serene in the face of conflict and fickle in focus and attentions, Vidal Van Valo is a fae who enjoys most of lifes pursuits vicariously through others. Most. He himself is a producer of art, of music and the instruments in which to create art, and he takes great pride and joy in his own creations. Born with the elemental infusion of air and water, these powers often take a part in his own creation of music, which are used to both earn respect amongst his peers, and to ensnare mortals in acts of trickery. He is also known for his poetry, and use of the fan in combat, although he has been known to use a rapier with mocking viciousness when the cause demands. Magic is the primary expression of Vidal Van Valo, using water and air to enhance his music, which can be used to confuse, enthrall and quell hostility in those who might do him harm. Vidal is known for walking the edge between good and evil, and also known for indulging in great acts of balancing between the two, taking great pleasure in both and seeing no hypocrisy in his actions. Above all things, the music, the creation of music, and the respect towards the arts is at the forefront of the fae's passions, interests and thoughts.

Vidal's affinity for music allows him to draw out deep emotion from those listening to him perform. He can also conduct numerous instruments at the same time, drawing out expert performances from each to work in harmony and with a volume that is unmatched. At the height of this power it causes colours to dance in the air and for all to be deeply touched by the music, for good or for ill. This has no mind controlling potential, and is merely an artist's expression affecting the soul. The draw back of using this affinity can vary depending on the extend of the power used, from a deafness that strikes him, and once broken, creates sensory overload from all sounds around him, causing confusion, irritation, and even fury.

White of hair, pale of skin, and stern of eye, Vidal rarely blinks and carries himself in a manner which can be unsettling to others. He moves deliberately and leisurely, as if every gesture and nuance was a performance of music, and even when moving quickly seems to have restraint about his movements. He wears deep blue robes which are gilded with ornate patterns, and carries an intricate fan about his belt.

Vidal is accustomed to the cold, and often shapes water to become ice, and the air to become cold and bear frost. He can create great works of natural music instruments, as well as more mundane instruments for people to play. He is a poet, and can create reflective works of art that earn him favour in the courts.

When angered to cause violence, Vidal uses the rapier to cause deep wounds upon his foes, although this is rare. He causes his sword to be a freezing temperature, and has been known to deeply stab someone and leave the blade within them, freezing them the longer it remains within the target.

Vidal is a talented musician, although he often experiments during practices which can be unharmonious. He typically uses his ability with air to create choirs, and to power woodwind instruments, although he is learning how to play other instruments also, such as the cello. He is able to craft musical instruments out of wood, and has developed a reputation for creating instruments that play themselves from the motion of water, from the movement of air, and the passage of people or things upon paths.

Vidal has a cruel sense of humour, a global respect for anyone of the arts, a vested interest in shaping nature to reveal musicality, and a dislike for the bombastic, Vidal prefers the soft touch of subtilty, the elegant affections of voice, the eloquent meaning of poetry. Slow to anger, yet wicked once his temper has been drawn to rise, Vidal conducts himself as he might an orchestra, deliberately, carefully, yet full of expression. He is loyal to his friends, yet more loyal to his interests, and makes this abundantly clear. He responds honestly to people about his nature, yet, acts diplomatically and dispassionately that can be relied upon as a compass to his feelings. He is prone to prefer to enjoy aspects of life as an outsider than someone directly involved with them, as if he were observing a painting of events instead of being a part of them. However, once his interest is garnered over something, he is eager to involve himself and pick up the paintbrush for his own ends.
