Varian
A kind young man blessed with a powerful ability. With a peaceful heart and a body more robust than steel, Varian differs from most initiates with his docile demeanor. His non-aggressive nature often comes at odds with the other dread lords, who see his magic as a powerful tool of war.
Appearance
Tall and well-built, Varian carries the build of a worker, having labored on the family farm since his youth. He has sunkissed skin with blue eyes and dark, messy hair. He often wears clothes that expose his arms, preferring the extra freedom of movement over more covering attire.
In his metal form, his entire body looks entirely different. He becomes a being comprised of metal, and his facial features disappear save for a pair of rectangular holes resembling eyes from which a blue light shines. His entire body resembles an anatomical model depicting musculature but made entirely from silvery metal.

Skills and Abilities
General Abilities: Varian has adequate skill in basic dread lord training. He is unremarkable if acceptable at swordplay, archery, and riding. He excels at pugilism, a prodigy at fighting close quarters without weapons. Varian's style utilizes every limb to its fullest extent, emphasizing the use of knees and elbows.
Varian keeps himself in peak physical fitness, ensuring all aspects of his body are capable and robust even without his magic. Not only does it make him less reliant on his powers, but his magic's efficacy is also tied directly to his body's conditioning. The better his body typically, the better his body when transformed.

Varian's magical ability. This does far more than cover his skin in metal. It replaces every ounce of his body, every muscle fiber, with a special alloy far more resilient than steel. The alloy is silver in color, with high corrosion, rusting, and heat resistance. Varian's strength and durability are increased immensely in this metal form without sacrificing speed. While the form is highly durable, it is also dense, multiplying Varian's weight by twenty, eliminating his ability to swim or anything similar.
Varian's control of this form is still incomplete and requires active concentration. If the concentration is broken, he reverts to his normal state. He can adjust the malleability of his body, reverting it on the scarce occasion it gets bent or warped and reattaching limbs on the even rarer chance that a part gets torn apart.
The body is entirely magical and controlled as such with Varian's mind. It has no bones, blood, or nerves. Touch, sight, sound, and smell are all sensed via magical means, similar to scrying. While in this state, he is nigh immortal, the only actual death being decapitation or any mortal injury taken and reverting as all injuries sustained are transferred to his mortal body. He also does not require sleep, food, or water and does not age in metallic form.
Despite this, his powers run on a finite reserve of magical energy that is slowly consumed while Varian is transformed. The slow dissipation of this energy leads to a fatigue-like state. This magical energy parallels Varian's stamina and life force in his normal state. Exertion of his metal body, taking massive physical trauma, and performing monstrous feats of strength quickly can deplete this energy rapidly. Should this magical energy be depleted fully, Varian turns back to normal, left fatigue and locked out from transforming again until hie recovers fully.
While in this state, his emotions are also heavily suppressed, overpowered by an almost new personality. His personality takes on his idea of what a hero is. Loud, boisterous, and with a high sense of justice. Any emotions he feels, such as sadness or anger, are suffocated as soon as they arise, with stronger feelings taking more effort to quell. This seems like a safety feature of his magical ability, and it is unknown what it entails if this is bypassed. There are no records yet of that happening.

Personality
Despite his appearance, Varian is a gentle soul, friendly but can be shy and aloof at times. He does what he thinks is right, unafraid to help those in need. He is a man of honor and leans towards more peaceful solutions, preferring to allow foes to surrender even in the middle of combat. Varian has a habit of moving delicately as if the world around him was made out of glass, a habit he picked up due to the nature of his magical gift.
Varian prefers to keep himself busy with reading, preferring the company of books much more than his peers. This had often led him to be overshadowed by the more ambitious and outspoken initiates, often keeping himself in the background with his head down and doing only what he must.
Varian has a secret joy for theatrics and flair, never missing an opportunity to add it to his dread lord duties when possible. To him, it adds a sense of heroism and makes fighting more tolerable.
