Valya Paige
Appearance
Valya is of average height, with broad shoulders and toned arms. Typically, she wears the traditional feathered headdress and garb of a trader of her nomadic raft-travelling tribe, consisting of overlapping hide lined with colourful threads and light linen cloth, also red. Her right arm and shoulder are always bandaged or otherwise covered, obscuring from view a creeping crimson rash travelling up from her perpetually gloved hand. Her eyes too are covered, a cloth mesh draping down from her headdress and allowing Valya too see out whilst hiding her face.
Skills and Abilities
Spears: Having used a fishing spear since she was a child, Valya is proficient in throwing the weapons and using them to gather food. While more accustomed to using specially made spears with forged metal heads, in a pinch she can fashion and use an improvised spear of carved wood and stone.
Resourceful: Growing up as a hunter-gatherer, Valya has learned to use the landscape around her for food, clothing, and shelter. She has an intimate knowledge of the flora and fauna of the coastal regions of Southern Liadain and Aina O Ka La, and can use this to provide for herself in the wilderness.
Strong Swimmer: A lifetime of living in and around the water allowed Valya to develop as a powerful swimmer, capable of enduring strong currents and fiercer conditions than most.

Personality
Valya is slow to trust, and generally unwilling to reach out and engage with others. She is stubborn and quick to anger, though often distracted, dwelling on past events and ruminating over her own future. She is fiercely loyal to those she is close to, and deeply distrustful of magic of any kind. When her guard is lowered she is cheerful and upbeat, revelling in the sights and sounds of new places and people. Before long, her thoughts always return to the sickness creeping up her arm, and a sombre mood returns.
