Valdram, son of Tarrok, is a courageous and shrewd Orc hailing from a nomadic tribe in the Taagi Baara steppes. After chaos and ruin found his tribe in the form of death and destruction, Valdram vowed on his father's name that he will do whatever he must to restore his tribe to its former glory.

Appearance

Valdram is a tall and imposing Orc. A broad-shouldered hulking mass of muscle with mane-like jet-black hair and tanned olive skin. Underneath this barbaric appearance, however, one can find a calm and collected individual. One who moves with a warrior’s grace and looks upon the world with intelligent and curious eyes.

His orcish traits are further accentuated by his clothing; a simple kilt made from leather and hides.

Skills and Abilities

Having been taught by his father, the last shaman of their tribe, Valdram has received more education than most other orcs. He most frequently displays this by his mastery of the Common and Orcish languages, being able to speak both but only read and write the latter.

While Valdram is incapable of any outstanding or supernatural feats, his physicality is noteworthy. He is remarkably agile, and his reflexes are fast and abrupt. But it is truly the combination of his endurance, monstrous strength and fearless attitude that have carried him so far.

Like most orcs of his tribe, Valdram has the necessary skills and experience to survive in the Taagi Baara steppes. He knows how to treat his injuries, craft his tools, build, or find shelter and hunt for his food.

As it happens, these skills translate well to combat. Valdram favors both the bow and spear, since he was taught how to wield both from a young age. The spear later made place for an axe; the iconic weapon of choice wielded by many of his fellow orcs. Over time, Valdram has proven himself an excellent marksman and a warrior who does not shy away from the melee battle either.

Personality

Valdram is confident and gregarious and holds high moral standards. He values honesty, loyalty and being true to oneself above all else. At times, however, he is unable to tell right from wrong. This becomes apparent when he is forced to interact with humans. After the death of his father and near-destruction of his clan by the hands of humans, Valdram has shown nothing but mistrust and contempt for any individual of their race.

Another of his more notable traits is his courage. When he believes a cause is right and just, he has always and will always face any danger, fight any foe, and battle all he deems evil despite impossible odds or personal risk.

But Valdram is more than just courage and ideals. He is shrewd, perceptive and possesses nerves of steel. While most of his tribe are reckless and quick to dismiss others, Valdram is less so. The death of his father, a trusting pacifist, has taught him to be cautious and thoroughly think things through. Nevertheless, he remains an Orc of action.

Biography & Lore

Valdram was born as the eldest son of his tribe’s last shaman. His tribe of Orcs was nomadic, travelling between the Taagi Baara steppes and the Spine. Being born in such a tribe meant that the expectations were high. From the moment he and the other children could stand, they were expected to aid their tribe however and whenever possible. It was a harsh but rewarding existence.

While Valdram as the eldest was supposed to follow in his father’s footsteps, he much preferred hunting over the shamanistic rituals. Nevertheless, his father never stopped educating him. Through the many ‘boring’ lessons he would come to learn Common, bargaining on the tribe’s behalf, and so on.

But that changed in his teenage years. On one of their travels, the tribe came across a bandit-plagued village. The villagers begged the Orcs for help, claiming that the lord of their lands had given no response. The majority of Valdram’s tribe was apprehensive at first. But it was his father, Torrak, who rallied the warriors of their tribe and set out to aid the village.

At dusk, when the bandits returned, they stumbled upon the waiting Orcs. A battle ensued, one that resulted in the tribe’s victory. Although it was not over yet.

The ground beneath their feet trembled, a result of two-hundred hooves slamming into the dirt. The cavalry of the resident lord finally arrived to save the village. Sadly, they mistook the Orcs for the bandits.

The cavalry tore through their tribe, killing and maiming whoever they could. Even those who, like his father, tried to make them aware of this misunderstanding. And the villagers? They just… Cheered. Glad to be freed, happy to be saved. And none of them did as much as bat an eye to his tribe. Or what remained of it.

Years passed, but the wounds never healed. The tribe remained shattered and broken, only a shell of what it used to be. His tribe had lost their shaman, a role none of them fill. But more importantly, he had lost his father. A painful reminder of a simple truth: humans were terrible beings.
