A basilisk.

These monstrous serpents are found in the jungles of the Ixchel Wilds and grow to gargantuan sizes. Covered in a thick, scaled hide as tough as iron, Unua's saurian form is presently just over 6m (~ 20ft) long, weighing in at a staggering 150kg (~ 350lbs). She is large enough now to swallow an adult duannan whole, and does so on a regular basis. Though right now she would be considered quite small for a natural basilisk, as she grows older in age, her size in serpent form also continues to grow. Their scales grow thicker and form rows of spikes along their spine. Some very aged basilisk also grow horns and spikes around their skulls.

Not to be confused with basilisk creatures of yore that had the magical ability to kill with their gaze alone and were thought to be fully sentient and sapient. Natural basilisks were, however, just as deadly. Their venom had two purposes: to stun/immobilize their target and to temporarily nullify magic. This venom continues to grow more lethal as the snake grows larger so that it can take down larger and larger prey. Juvenile basilisks can use their venom once every three hours, adult basilisks must act strategically and with care for they can only replenish theirs once every day.

Born the daughter of Lady Nuana and Lord Mosetu, Unua was said to have died during birth after taking the life of her own mother in the process. None but two living souls know of her present existence: Prince Tulok and a nameless Black Shuck who now lives as Unua's Warden.

Lady Nuana was the sister to Queen Orisa (Mother of Tulok, Kana'ti, and Gwendolyn) who also died while giving birth to her triplets.

Before her death, Lady Nuana gave a prophecy of her child, that Unua was born the reincarnation of Queen Orisa and would be the key to ending the civil war between the Princes, offering her child's true name to her protector: the nameless Black Shuck. Sworn to protect her daughter at all costs, the Black Shuck fled the lands of Kana'ti's Kingdom, in search of a safe place to take her and raise her. He was, unfortunately, tracked and found out within the Eretejva tundra by Tulok's men. The Black Shuck had no other way to save himself and the child but to reveal her destiny to the Prince and the life debt he promised to her mother.

Unua has been Prince Tulok's charge and prisoner ever since with the Black Shuck as her only companion. Tulok has taken it upon himself to train Unua and hone her as a weapon for his war, using her as entertainment and executioner at his whim.
