Appearance

Skills and Abilities

Thunrawulfaz is a skilled hunter, a trait that is considered essential to the Svear way of life. As such, he is skilled in tracking a variety of wild game and is proficient with a bow. His bow is considered a hunting tool however, so he will rarely default to using it in combat.

Along with most other Svear males, Thunrawulfaz has been training in marital pursuits since he was a boy, the ways of the warrior considered a manly pursuit by the Svear. He is most proficient with an axe due to its multipurpose functions, as his family was never rich enough to afford real swords, though he has had enough practice with wooden swords that he could use one if given the opportunity. He also carries a shield and a knife for combat.

Personality

A thoroughly wild spirit compared to men of other races, Thunrawulfaz enjoys battle and warfare, a common trait among his kin. There is a certain beauty to be found in violence and war, not simply for destruction's sake, but because the Svear - and by extension Thunrawulfaz - believe there is deeper meaning to be found in intense human experiences and moments that bring one close to death. He searches far and wide for this ecstasy wherever it may be found. By extension, he is fiercely competitive.

Personal honor is intensely important to Thunrawulfaz. Honor demands that he will not allow himself an unfair advantage over an opponent in a duel, and will even go so far as to assist a foe to "even out" the stakes. No underhanded tactics or cheap shots from Thunrawulfaz, at least where dueling is concerned. Rather than viewing his honor code as a hindrance, Thunrawulfaz sees every fight as an opportunity to test himself; another mountain to climb, another challenge to overcome, a path that will lead to a greater understanding of himself and his limits.

At the same time, he will raid freely and take what he wants, when he wants, from the people he fights and kills, without being hindered by any moral compunctions. To Thunrawulfaz, the world and a man's actions don't boil down to "good" and "evil", concepts foreign to the Svear, but are simply matters of fate. He owes a debt, and he will pay it - simple as that. In his culture, there is little point in moralizing over violence. A man's fate is set from birth; the best he can do is face it with as much bravery and dignity as possible.

Biography & Lore

Thunrawulfaz is a currently exiled Svear warrior roaming the northern lands of Arethil.

A member of the Svear tribe of Nords, Thunrawulfaz grew up in the northernmost parts of Eretejva in a small village. Like most other Svear, his village subsisted on a hunter-gatherer lifestyle and could be thought of as little more than a small collection of families roaming the free northlands. Born into the peasant class with little wealth to their name, Thunrawulfaz learned the ways of hunting from boyhood and took a keen interest in wrestling and sparring with weaponry.

In 369, Thunrawulfaz and Leugaz, a young man from a neighboring village, pitted their families' horses against each other in a horse fight, a common recreational pastime amongst the Svear that often involves gambling. At some point during the fight, the match became heated between the two participants, resulting in Leugaz striking Thunrawulfaz with his staff, a serious offense that demanded a response.

Convinced that the blow had been a mistake, Thunrawulfaz did not pursue any further action. Life continued as normal for some time until rumors began to spread amongst the village that he had cowed to Leugaz. Eventually, Thunrawulfaz confronted him and demanded to know whether the strike had been an accident, to which Leugaz answered, "one set of eyes may call it an accident, another may not." Thunrawulfaz responded by burying his axe in Leugaz's skull.

Vilrekr, the Erilaz of Leugaz's village, learned of the slaying of one of his workers and initially considered the matter settled. Later, Vilrekr was convinced by his wife that he should not allow the death of one of his workers without some form of recompense. In response, Vilrekr sent two village men to deal with Thunrawulfaz. The two men confronted him and in a fight ensued, ending with Thunrawulfaz killing both of them.

Now responsible for the deaths of three men of his village, Vilrekr was forced to take the matter before the grand assembly of Svear. There the lawmen ruled that Thunrawulfaz was to be exiled from the Svear for a period of three years and three days, after which he would be permitted to return to the tribe, so long as he had amassed enough wealth and resources to properly repay Vilrekr for the lives of three of his men.

With little choice but to accept, Thunrawulfaz now wanders the northern coasts of Arethil freely, hunting and fighting at will...
