Need. Want. Desire.

And now, an awareness. Of the self. A faint thing. A gift of being seen. Being known. By the tiny creature who contacted It. The creature repeated a sound. Repeated again and again.

Khorvayne.

It could not make the sound. But the creature Khorvayne extended a hand. And It mimicked the hand. Tried to touch hers. Not possible. Intangible. A veil of magic. And the image of Khorvayne faded.

But Khorvayne would come again. Intangible, still. There and gone. It was enough to exist in the presence of one another.

She would come again. This time It could see into her. Need. Want. Desire. So different and alien to It. She infected It with her own curiosity. And thus It too was curious.

The creature Khorvayne came with another like her. Smaller. Khorvayne repeated a sound. Again and again. It did not understand. The smaller creature repeated the same sound. Again and again.

Anima.

The smaller creature Anima felt fear. Love. Sorrow. Many emotions. Powerful.

And It grew curious.

More and more.
