Former Kingsguard, The Cursed

Appearance

A giant of a man, his line was blessed with what some believed to be the favor of the gods. His body bears the look of endless torture during his year in captivity.

Skills and Abilities

Martial Combat- As the right hand of the Kingsguard, he bore the skill that accompanied such prestige.

Cursed hand- In order to ensure he couldn't call upon his soul and rise up and challenge Borvenir, he had a cursed prosthetic attached. No attempt to remove it has been successful.

Berserker- Though he lacks the ability to shift, his body behaves as if he still bears the power. He can fight well beyond many of his kind.

Personality

Haunted over his past mistake, Skarde Yjorenjaskr seeks redemption. Above all, he holds to the old ways, so he is slow to accept the decrease in raiding.

Biography & Lore

Born in the ancestral home of his people, it was believed Skarde was kissed by the gods. He may have not rivaled Borvenir in power, but he still knew much glory. Borvenir himself, would elect him to the Kingsguard when he was in his twenties. By his thirties, he would become Borvenir's second.

It would be that act and the following favor that would earn Borvenir his loyalty. And as the King turned away from the old ways, Skarde would become disenfranchised with their current ruler, and would begin to favor a change in leadership. Even with that, he bore no hatred for King or the royal family. This, however, would be with the intent of a fair challenge, which he was promised. And so, he would be amongst the first of the Blodvalhar.

The day of the attack, he would become the first of the Blodvalhar to change sides. He would roam the halls of the Palace when he happened upon the Kings Brothers door slightly ajar and all within slain. This was what was meant. There was no honor. Rushing to the kings chamber, he would slay several of the Blodvalhar guarding the door before continuing on to challenge Borvenir, himself. He was no match. The battle would be fierce and amongst the swinging steal and the spraying blood, he would lose his left hand, before being cast from the window.

He would know black. Facing the gods a traitor and a failure. But that was not his end, the gods are far more fickle then that. He would survive and be imprisoned by Borvenir. Tortured endlessly during his rule as punishment. But he never broke. And he never wavered. Even when witches crafted for him a cursed hand that felt as if it erased his soul.

Skarde would lose track of the days until a panic began to settle amongst the guards at the post. He couldn't call on his soul, but he could feel its rage.. Chains would break and Skarde was free. Taking the outpost from within, they would meet Maude's forces at the gate and hand it over. Brought before the Queen, he would swear himself to her cause. Queensguard or not, he will die for her.

Seeking his own redemption, he takes on the hardest quests to bring glory to his Queen, and their people.
