There is not a chance in the world, that Siva would be picked first at any sporting event - even if she was very good at it. Her surname, Duskbreath, was not the name, she was handed by her classmates. Given the countless hours she spent trying to polish her magical talents with whispers in dark corners, she was quickly branded "Siva Dustbreath". And right until the final exams appropriate control of her magic eluded her, and many students joked that the teachers were only keeping her as an example of what a Dreadlord was not. But for one of her proctors personal pride and a fair measure of cruelty forbad this failure, and only weeks before her final exams, she was locked in isolation to "die or succeed".

Although entirely spent, starved and exhausted, on the day of the exam she was allowed to participate in the graduation with her classmates as their peer. At the core, Siva is not vengeful, yet the sheer look of surprise and shock called upon a faint smile. Little did Siva tell about what had happened in those two weeks and how she survived, but being able to call upon and bind her shadowy creatures was enough for the proctors to give her the necessary nod needed to graduate on "special terms". Terms however, that meant her graduation was officially still a borrowed one, as they wanted to confirm through her merits that she had indeed sufficient ability to carry the badge of Dreadlord. But to everyone else but a few proctors, she was now a fully fledged Dread Lord.
