Singar is a nomadic Orc man hailing originally from the Aberresai Savannah, though in his travels he has crossed much of Liadain. Singar is a solitary survivor, preferring the company of the natural world to other people. His drive is as much to survive as it is to explore the wonders of the natural world. Of course, if fate decrees it as such, Singar will travel to cities and work with others, especially on enticing quests.

Appearance

Singar stands half a foot taller than most Humans, though average for an Orc. His strong frame is owed to his youth labouring in the forge. His rippling muscles, marred by scars yet strong and unyielding still, are a result of his many formative years alone in the wilds. He wears his long brown mane of hair tied back out of his face, and sports a beard becoming of any wildman such as himself.

Skills and Abilities

  • Of the Land: Years in the wilderness have made Singar self-reliant. His bow, and all his clothes, were fashioned by his own hands of furs and leathers he hunted. He is a skilled and regular subsistence hunter.
  • Tools of the Trade: Singar's weapon of choice for the regular task of hunting game is an oak longbow. His skill with a bow for hunting translates poorly to the rush of combat archery, and in fights he will usually default to hacking and slashing with his axe.

Personality

Singar is solitary and stoic like a forest predator. He is as uneasy around civilized peoples as he is unskilled in conversing with them. While he learned the common tongue in his youth and spoke it regularly, his grasp on it is not perfect, and is prone to creating a barrier between him and non-Orcs. Singar does not readily divulge his past, preferring to be judge on his present and future action, and not those of his troubled past.

Tropes:
-The Stoic
-Bastard with a Heart of Gold
-Barbarian Hero

Biography & Lore

Singar was born into a moderately wealthy family of semi-civilized Orcs. He was the 3rd child of 6 to a well-regarded bladesmith in a large stronghold near the mouth of the River Cairou. Its proximity to Elbion and distance from the deepest plains of the Savannah meant the settlement was uncharacteristically friendly with neighbouring humans. The docility of its agricultural people made it a common stop of researchers from Elbion seeking to document the Orcs.

From the time he could walk, Singar assumed the role of his father and older brothers' assistant in the forge. His duties were mostly labour, as the forging was reserved for his two older brothers who apprenticed their father.

At 12, the stronghold began to be threatened by an encroaching tribe of nomadic Orcs. The savannah Orcs were militantly opposed to the civilization their neighbours had built. Singar befriended a group of young hunters who often ventured too close to the stronghold. They took him on hunts and showed him the freedom he sought from the middle of his overbearing family.

At 17, the conflict had boiled to a head, and Singar had become more alienated by his own society, and accepted into the nomadic world by his friends and their clan. Convinced of the lies of civilization, Singar helped let the nomads inside the stronghold to attack. In the conflict, both of Singar's older brothers attempted to kill him, though he defeated them and killed them in turn.

Witnessing the brutality inflicted upon both sides of the conflict, Singar realized his mistakes. He had betrayed his family, his clan, and seriously injured both communities of Orc. All in the pursuit of what it all meant to be an Orc.

The violence among the Orcs scared nearby human kingdoms, who sent soldiers to quell what they believed to be an orcish horde forming. Both sides of the conflict were brutally put down, with many, many deaths.

Without a home, Singar was forced into the wild as he had always wanted, yet terribly alone, filled with remorse. His later formative years were consumed with survival, and learning to master the god-given gift of nature. He became a ranger of some repute, hunting great game across Liadain.

Recently Singar has taken up the death-defying challenge of questing, in a test to prove himself worthy of all that he has become in the eyes of his god, the Skyfather.
