Siena Alforth was born in the border town of Vel Orius.

Raised along the northern border of Vel Anir and the Savannah, Siena grew up in a small outpost called Vel Orius. Little more than a fort raised to alert for the coming of greater armies, the town was almost constantly harassed by tribal raiders.

Though little more than a nuisance, this constant threat caused the people of Vel Orius to eventually become hardened warriors and fighters. Near everyone within the small settlement had some sort of military training, a fact which eventually became a source of pride.

From a young age this sense of threat instilled a duty and purpose within Siena. Because of this she did not have much of a childhood, and it was clear to near everyone around her that she would choose to voluntarily join the Anirian Guard.

True to form, before her seventeenth name-day Siena left Vel Orius and departed and joined the main Anirian Garrison in Anir Central.

Over the next few years, both during her training and standard military service Siena proved herself to be an extraordinarily exceptional soldier. Upon her graduation from training she joined the Army of the West, and there served in half a dozen small campaigns. It was during this time as well that her status as a null was also discovered.

Upon this fact coming to light, Siena was quickly ushered into additional training and then placed within the famed BlackGuard.

Her time with the specialized unit is almost entirely classified. Even members of the Great Houses would struggle to dig up information of what Siena and her unit did. The BlackGuards activities being important enough to the Anirian Guard that they became a jealously protected secret.

During the Revolution it is known that Siena was in the Capital. Though no one is entirely sure what she did there, although it is rumored she aided in the pacification of House Sirl. Thereafter the young woman was assigned to hunting Rogue Dreadlords.

Nearly a year after the Revolution, and with the Republic firmly established, Siena was recalled from her adventures abroad.

To her dismay, she was assigned by the Guard as a representative of their interests. Told to oversee matters within the new Republic's Council and the affairs of the Houses. Mostly to assure nothing...untoward was happening.

Skills and Abilities

Siena is what is known as a Null.

Though no one is quite sure what creates the effect, nor how to reproduce it, Siena is incapable of being touched by magic of any source. Long since theorized to be some sort of inheritance of blood, the status of being a Null generally crops up once every few generations.

Many have experimented and tried to recreate this effect artificially, but in Vel Anir at least it has yet to be reproduced.

Despite the uncertainty of it's origins, the effects of being a Null are quite useful.

Any source of magic that attempts to make contact with Siena is simply rendered ineffective. Whether these be magical flames, touches of the mind, or even telekinetic grasps. None of these effects will have the slightest alteration upon Siena herself.

Of course this also means that things such as healing or enhancement magic cannot touch her.

Besides this, effects created by magic but wrought into reality can indeed effect Siena still. For instance if someone throws a chair at her with magic, the chair will still strike her as it would anyone else.

Despite this fact, her status as a Null makes Siena an incredibly useful tool. She is one of the few BlackGuard who does not require the famed enchanted armor of her unit, and instead is more versatile than her fellows. This has made her especially effective in hunting Dreadlords and other mages.
