Gossamer in starlight stands ever so the lines of lies; tenderly wrought, to bind; climb ever higher, chasing salvation but never find. Be soft, be still, silent the night's effervescence. Radiant, O Santiago, so bright your eyes. Would that this sojourn of life dull them yet.

Appearance

Frail and wan, soft skin drapes a frame that lilts beneath the wind's caress. Eyes light, set on high cheekbones kissed by a touch of regality. His shoulders are lithe, lank of arm and leg. In all, he is lent the appearance of a youth not quite grown. Hollow about the edges, nearly delicate. Well-groomed, oft oiled and combed hair lays in careful waves to his shoulders.

Skills and Abilities

Magic Adept; versed in frippery moreso than the arcane, Santiago acquired basic knowledge of incantations and simple control over magic in how it shapes the natural world. While of middling if not provincial skill, it serves him well in daily life.

Combat; despite his size, he boasts some training in a martial capacity. Possessing knowledge of forms and technique if not their practical use, he has at least held a sword prior. Perhaps not enough to fight more than children, but he oft deigns to think that showmanship can carry him further than skill.

Argument; this is truly a talent.

Personality

Always casting eyes forward, Santiago looks only to the future, sparing little thought for his actions in the present. At times callous, and often arrogant in quiet ways, he mistakes overconfidence for intelligence. To date, this has rarely erred on the side of trouble. Outwardly gentle and aloof (distant affect; he has fashioned an armor of shyness christened "clarity"), he expresses difficulty in communicating with his peers, preferring the company of his mentors. Above all, he possesses an urgency, a restlessness, and a great capacity for growth.

Biography & Lore

Born into middling wealth and to title of no remark, Santiago came quietly into this life. Tutors and servants bought the bulk of his tutelage, stunting much of his early social graces. Knowing little of play, he preferred instead to listen and read. It left a dissonance in him. Conversation, company, and laughter drew him in small bouts, and it took longer than most for him to lend voice to his thoughts.

In the later stages of adolescence he took to music in addition to his books. These provided the cornerstones of his routine: break fast, read, take lessons, study whatsoever instrument as he was able to find. Flutes and pipes, harps and lyres, anything that could hold a tune found its way into his hands. He had little talent for it, however, only fascination.

It was one of the few hobbies he found that kept him from further scholastic pursuit. And, at least, perhaps the only he enjoyed enough to stay an active participant in.

But, while it may have felt an eternity to him, eventually freedom was bequeathed to him. He was allowed agency in pursuit of his studies; first music, then histories, and finally he settled upon magic. Where his fingers failed to find perch on a harp they instead made gentle waves into the mystique.

He learned what he could, both self-taught and with the aid of family advisors. It only took him so far. When he came of age, on suggestion from his tutors, his parents sent him into Elbion proper to learn the deeper secrets of magic.

To this, he had no complaints.
