The Wild Elves of Talloc are an isolated community of tribal elves.

Habitat

These elves are a subspecies of elves that has remained isolated from any civilisation. They inhabit an island approximately 50km long and are currently the most civilised species there. The jungle is full of dangers. The lifespan of a typical elf is mostly irrelevant given the dangers of Talloc, from beasts to diseases. Reaching a hundred years of age is considered a rare and significant achievement.

Lore

The wild elves are - compared to Falwood elves - a savage and uncivilised group. Over a dozen tribes inhabit the island and they are constantly vying for territory. Skirmishes between the groups are common, particularly in years when conditions lead to less fruit bearing trees than usual.

They have never developed the ability to forge iron or steel. Flint and stone weapons are common. They have no written word and whilst magic is commonly practised it is rudimentary and druidic in nature. Given the dangers of Talloc, a healer has the highest regard when it comes to mystical arts.

The spoken languages vary despite the size of the island. As do the physical traits and cultures of the tribes. Tribes located next to each other may have slightly varying dialect, but might be unable to understand an elf from the far side of Talloc.

There are a few steel weapons in the tribes. Ioha blades are kept by the most ferocious warrior. Almost every wild elf knows the name, design and history of each Ioha blade, of which there are barely more than a dozen. The number held by each tribe is often a sign of its relative strength. They may be relics from an older elven civilisation or they may have been stolen from other species in the past. Each blade has a story of creation from a higher power.

The elves do, however, place a high value on the arts. Wooden, stone and bone jewellery is highly prized. Most wild elves sing and dance. Drums, horns and xylophones are common.

The Nagai have become a common threat. Whilst they commonly observe human boats passing through the delta, remaining unseen, the Nagai had encroached on their island. So far the threat has not been great enough to unite the tribes, but this may change.
