Hierarchy

The Rector
The Rector is the highest ordained member within the Monastery, with the most skill, knowledge, and magical power. He is the one to make final Writs, pass along Judgement, Espouse students into Monks, and manage the Monastery. However he does not come to any serious conclusions without council, both from the Gods and from his lowers. He heads the rituals, ceremonies, prayers, and Holy Day events, or assigns an appropriate Adjutant to it if he is unable.

The Adjutants
The three Adjutants are the Rector's closest confidants, supporting him in times of need, assisting him in endeavours, and providing council for the serious and the mundane alike. Adjutants are capable of leading ceremonies and rituals when assigned, and often rotate the leading of prayer between themselves and the Rector himself. They carry roughly the second highest level of skill, knowledge, and magical power.

The monks
There are one hundred fourteen cloistered monks in total as of the mid-year quota. They practice various duties around the monastery, anything from teaching classes, caring for the gardens, sorting the stockhouses, cleaning the rooms, cooking, and praying, to running the brewery, upkeeping the libraries, protecting the town, and participating in most major events in and out of the Monastery. They carry roughly the third highest level of skill, knowledge, and magical power.

The students
There are forty cloistered students in total as of the mid-year quota. Their duties are not dissimilar from the monks, with the main difference being education. Not only do they help clean, cook and care for the gardens among other tasks, they must see to their studies, pray, and participate in the appropriate events per age, learning, and skill. The students are schooled very carefully in the ways of magic, to have proper control and to recognize the signs of exhaustion.

The people
The townsfolk are largely devout, and attend Holy Days, events, ceremonies, and prayer, whenever it is a public-oriented occasion. A few know some magic, but the majority do not.

Lore

Hennan the Tenderfoot, founder of the Monastery
Hennan was chosen many bygone tenths ago by The Highest to be the Next One. Whilst slumbering the night after the celebration for his passage from childhood to midhood, he was personally called upon by Dhavohr, prophesying the founding of a holy site under Hennan's guidance.

The boy awoke swiftly in the early dawn with the men and women, leaving his younger sister asleep in their box bed, to announce to his parents and the town of his dream. Telling of great rolling fields, the bright blue sky swirled with clouds, creeks running with sweet water, lakes of fish, deep green forests running with game. As he ran these lands in pursuit of a dove, he came upon a man astride a mule, and when he stopped at the man's knee and gazed up at him, the man spoke his name. He spoke to Hennan of the need for a new generation of worship, to reawaken the passion of the heart, and that Hennan shall be the one to do so when he feels ready.

Hennan was met with mixed reception. His mother believed in her heart that Hennan would lead them to salvation. His father held doubt, fearing for his son's safety. The townsfolk quickly became divided, doubt mingling with hope and fear. What was to become of them all if Hennan truly was chosen to found a holy site?

The leader of the town, Afe, a man of personal lack, saw it as a threat to his authority. If Hennan left after he fully became a man, the town may choose to follow him instead. Under the cover of meetings for a celebration, he and his advisors settled a plan to encourage Hennan to leave sooner, whatever may happen to him afterwards.

Their plan succeeded, and he left one year before his passage into manhood, promising to return and bring those who wish to follow with him. Afe rejoiced.
